Thorough and educational. A collection of essays written by a variety of art history scholars. Some are quite academic and dry, but many are very interesting and educational. Great photos. Well worth the price.

This is a very well structure and well design evidence of one of the most influential though in architectural education, not to be miss.

Good value for money, hardcover book, which covers everything from The Early Years in Germany to later departures from members in America. Something for the hardcore fanatic & the inquisitive learner. The most influential Design School of the last Century, you'll find many of their ideas & ideals reflected in most of todays design. Some of the more famous personalities looked at include Johannes Itten, Van der Rohn, Klee, Albers, Schlemmer with a chapter included on theory, preparatory teaching, workshops & daily life. Behind the scenes photography & images help to present you with a very visual understanding of members development & ideas. A must buy for designers, artists & creatives, to polish off your grass roots understanding of modernism.

Got this book as a gift and the recipient loved it. High quality book with great images and overflowing with information about Bauhaus.

I am not a Bauhaus scholar and it may be that the scholars would have all kinds of arguments with the representations, but for sheer scope, volume, and primary-source material I don't know how you could beat this. Many stories I hadn't heard elsewhere, second-time-around reconsiderations of received wisdom and institutional fairy tales that give a lot more texture and credibility to the history -- I really like this book and don't understand why it doesn't cost twice what it does, unless foundations are subsidizing it. Anyway. Buy it, you probably won't be disappointed.

Excellent collection - informative and beautiful to look at. It is a rather large book but worth the investment if you have any interest in design.

I have looked at many books on the Bauhaus. This particular book is by far the most comprehensive one I've seen. It is an incredibly good value for a reasonable price.
