Church Flowers: The Essential Guide to Arranging Flowers in Church

This is an inspirational book for anyone who loves flowers. Beautifully illustrated and plenty of 'how to do' lessons. Particularly useful for me as I have just joined the flower rota at my church. Great tips on how to get the mechanics right, for the beginner and some beautiful ideas for arranging on a budget too, It takes some of the guesswork out of flower arranging and helpful hints on how to keep the flowers fresh for a week or more, plus which blooms will give the longest life. I would recommend it to anyone who loves flowers and it is also a lovely coffee table book to just browse the gorgeous photographs.

A large book with some useful ideas and lots of photo illustrations.

I was asked to help arrange flowers in my church four years ago and have used this book constantly .Arranging flowers in a church shows a very public display of your skill and good taste.Knowledge of styles, seasons,the Church calender, saints days, the colours to use and the etiquette of arranging church flowers are essential for when it is your turn to do the flowers.This book helps with all of that. Some of the arrangements are a bit over the top for the novice arranger but ideas for colours and shapes and the mechanics are all there.Some wonderful photographs of pedestal displays. This is a lovely book ,absorbing for anyone who has to arrange flowers or wants ideas for a wedding .

What a great buy! I recently went on the flower arrangers rota for my church and decided i needed a book with information and inspiration specifically for churches. I already had Judith Blacklocks Encyclopedia of flower design which is brilliant so expected this to be of the same standard. I was not dissapointed. It is beautifully illustrated with lots of fabulous ideas and full of useful information.

Quick glance there doesnt appear to be any recipes. Flower arrangement images are very beautiful however

I am thrilled with this book, having only just discovered the delights of flower arranging in my church and knowing nothing much about how to set about it, this book is beginners dream. The thing I love the most about it though is the chapter on practicalities which covers the equipment needed and the foliage you can grow in your own garden which was something I was exploring anyhow. Fantastic practical book which I'm sure will give me a great start to my new found hobby.

This is an excellent book for either a novice or the more experienced flower arranger. Judith Blacklock is an exceptional illustrator of her craft. Church flowers are not the easiest flowers to arrange but Judith gives you the confidence to 'have a go'. Well worth the money and thoroughly recommended.

A beautiful book that gives me all the information I need to start flower arranging in my local church. This includes guidance on what flowers/greenery available at the different times of year and even line drawings for more complicated arrangements.

This is a beautiful book with inspiring photos. Its a valuable resource for anyone involved in a church flower guild or flower committee. Lots of step-by-step instructions and tips for arrangers. We are just starting a Flower Guild at our church and have already put the information to good use.

I found this book by Judith Blacklock extremely helpful. It deals with all kinds of arrangments , from small altar pieces, to large ones to decorate doorways and columns. All the mechanics are well described, and there are lots of good tips regarding flower selection and preservation. A good book...with good photos...I'll probably never need any other! My Mum was thrilled with this book. I looked through it before I mailed it to her and loved the beautiful photography and fantastic and yet clean design arrangements. My Mum absolutely loves loves loves this book and is very inspired by the use of floral color combinations and styles. She's shakin' it up already to great acclaim! It's a winner! Love you Mum.

The book is about arranging flowers in a very large church like a very large Catholic Church. However, it has some great ideas.
