Good for KS 3 beginners except that no answers to questions
I am reading this book with my son in year 9. The book is good. At the end of topics there are questions but unfortunately there are no answers either at the end of topics or at the back of the book. I know the questions are usually based on the topic covered on that page or the page before, However, some questions are out of the blue, not covered by the topic. Good money value and easy to navigate.

Excellent Key Stage 3 Science Book
Please note it is Book 1 in Key stage 3 Science. Check where your relations are before you buy it for them. There is Book 2, then Book 3. probably Year 7 Book 1, Year 8 Book 2 and year 9 book 3. Excellent book.
