Received two days before Thanksgiving with a broken lid lift-tab. Needed the container for Thanksgiving so I took the offered discount; defect doesn’t affect performance. Cooked a medium turkey that turned out great. I was skeptical that I could fit two breasts and two legs but no problem. On my second pork belly as I write this. Container is roomy and lid does keep evaporation down to almost nothing. Joule is well-secured at two different heights. Container seems sturdy while lid, particularly hinges, seems a little lightweight but not cheap. I consider it a worthwhile purchase for sous vide cooking.

Sturdy plastic, not flimsy. The measurement gradations on the container are clear; do not block view of food. My Joule fits perfectly. I opened the clip to drop the device as far down as it would go. That left about 2” of space under the foot of the Joule. While that may make the cooking bath require more water, I appreciate that the food bag can use the entire bottom of the container. When I use a round stockpot, the food bag always bumped against the Joule & even could block the water intake.It didn’t bother me about the extra water, because I save the water between cooks, unless it becomes compromised by food getting into it. The container having a lid will help prevent evaporation not only during cooking, but between cooks as well.The only reason I held back the last star is because the container is larger at the top than at the bottom. You can see the sloping sides in the product photos. The measurements provided for the container are taken at the top, approx 13x12, & include the lip of the container. By the time you get to the bottom of the container, which is effectively the useful area, it measures only 10x 8.I considered exchanging for a larger Rubbermaid container, but the larger volume has the same footprint, & accommodates the additional volume by adding height.So, 4 stars it is. I am glad to have the more practical rectangular shape. Now I can stop trying to fit my rectangular or square food bags into my round pots.

this is really good and so helpful! to use the sous vide. You can use a pot, right, but this is so much easier. I can hang 3 bags on this easily and cook quite a bit. I have found w sous vide I cook extra, freeze one, and use the other two right away. I love sous vide. You can't believe how good it is for cooking the best meat. And I've done pretty fantastic eggplant in it too.

Everything arrived in perfect condition. I have the older model Joules, and it fit exactly as it should through the opening in the top of the lid. I never write reviews, but I felt compelled to do so after reading the negative reviews. Trust me as this will be a perfect fit.

My Joule. It keeps a lid on during the sous vide process. Very easy to use. I didn't need a binder clip I just shut the lid on the bag edge. Easy to see during the cooking process. It is a large container and you need room to use it.

I like that the joule fits in the little hole perfectly. no worries about evaporation for long cooks. be sure to get a trivet or something to set it on, in order to protect your countertops. Mine gets a lot of use and no problems after several months.
