Review: Highly recommended for any Keith Lemon fan - For anyone not familiar with Keith Lemon (Leigh Francis) it is highly recommended that you watch some TV with him in to see if his style of humour is to your taste before purchasing this. Lemon La Vida Loca is more of the same and in many ways Keith manages even to outdo himself in terms of his diva like, chauvinistic and misogynistic behaviour (primarily from a sexual objectification of women perspective) that he exhibits weekly on Celebrity Juice. Originally broadcast on ITV2, the premise of Lemon La Vida Loca is a comedy mockumentary style, a satire of the constant reality shows that fill TV schedules and were the daily diet of ITV2 viewers with "stars" such as Peter Andre, Katie Price and Kerry Katona. It is difficult to write a detailed review without giving too much of the plot away - series 1 follows Keith in his daily life, meeting other celebrities, filming shows, throwing parties, generally out and about around town and primarily his relationship with his girlfriend Rosie (Laura Aikman). Series 2 continues to follow Keith as he tries (and fails) to reinvent himself in several ways, trying new projects and generally failing miserably. This is still quite amusing and is bang on in terms of sending up the many fading celebrities who try and switch from the thing they are best known for to much less suitable projects which in most cases ultimately lead to their demise. Keith spends most of series 1 treating Rosie quite poorly in the sense that he always considers himself the superior part of the relationship - he is the star and sure lets Rosie know it as often as possible. He expects Rosie to give a lot in the relationship whilst he gives very little, being unable to provide even the most basic warmth for a long term relationship by saying he loves her. Keith literally builds the entire relationship on sex whilst constantly ogling and desiring other women. This builds through the series and ultimately culminates in the two part Christmas special with his present to her, just one cheap gift which is an old CD of her favourite band (that she most likely already has!), whilst expecting many lavish gifts himself. By the end of the second part however he really turns this around and the last few minutes are a joy to watch and are the highlight of the entire production. In Series 2 the relationship with Rosie has ended and she is in only one scene. The rest of the series, whilst funny in parts falls a little flat as the majority of the laughs (for me at least) are in series 1 with Rosie and the disjointed relationship they share. Some of this interaction with Rosie is replaced in Series 2 with dealings with his female manager, and some of her silent reactions to Keiths suggestions are absolutely classic. Again this is bang on in sending up stars who are too big for their boots - their long suffering management having to treat them like gods and pandering to their ridiculous demands whilst silently wishing their next foreign visit in their private jet ends in a massive fireball. Ultimately however it is the relationship and interaction with long suffering Rosie in series 1 that provides much of the humour of the series and makes what it is. This is sadly absent in the second series and is ultimately the downfall of series 2. However both series are extremely well written and there is so much hidden meaning and depth within this show. For any Keith Lemon fan it is an absolute must see. 5 stars, very highly recommended if you enjoy Keith Lemon. Review: The best of keith - There are some good Keith Lemon tv shows out there like "Keith and Paddy at the movies" and "The Keith Lemon Sketch s Show" but id say this is the best thing Leigh Fancis has done with the character by far. "Celebrity juice" is ok,"Keith Lemon the Film" was atrocious, "Through the Keyhole , "Keith Lemon's Fit" and "Shopping with Keith" are ok but nothing special but this series was what the character was made for. A mocumentary, reality show, sitcomish type show about the day to day life of KL. Its entertaining and funny and its a shame that of all the things KL this didnt continue. This dvd is usually super cheap and you get the entire 2 series run plus some extras so its definately worth it. Although there is no series 3 the series "Keith Lemon Coming to America" is a continuation of sorts. In short KL can be hit or miss but this is definately the characters greatest outing.
