Nice piece of kit
After receiving my Trekker during the week, we went out into the local woods and tried it out. Great piece of kit, did exactly what I wanted, a brew for 2 in a very short space of time. I wanted the smaller trekker, as I have the Base Camp model, which for just 2 of us can be a bit bulky, but with the Grandkids with us too, it works. I also wanted to buy the separate hobo stove for the trekker, but can't find it as a stand alone item to buy on Amazon unlike the hobo stove we have just bought for our Base Camp model, which is advertised and can be bought as a stand alone item. Also, I wanted the new green whistling bung to replace the cork one on our Base Camp model, especially if we have the Grandkids with us, as a replacement safety upgrade, but couldn't find that as a standalone upgrade item to buy either on Amazon.

Takes a bit of practice.
Bought the basic model. Comes well packaged. Took a few goes to get going but I invested in proper firefighting bits off Amazon and it works a treat. Once lit even damp twigs soon catch light and it roars up the middle to heat the water. Practical outdoors fun. Read instructions carefully especially regarding the use of the handle. The whistle (replaces the old stopper) works brilliantly.

One of the Best Low Impact Environmental Tools To Produce Hot Water
Kelly Kettle and Volcano Kettle are registered trademarks of the Kelly Kettle company. The kettles are constructed from a durable heat-conductive metal, such as aluminium or stainless steel. The source of heat is typically from small items of combustible material such as paper, twigs and pine cones. A base placed below the main body section holds the fuel and contains the fire whilst it burns. Additional fuel can be added to the fire without removing the kettle by dropping it down the chimney. Common among all designs is the principle of internal chimney to create the efficient upward drought of heat. I have had mine in very windy conditions function as a food preparation source, warmth and with no impact whatsoever to the environment we were on. Boil water in a matter of a few minutes. Variations on around a core design have been produced by a number of manufacturers. Typical water capacities are between 0.5 - 1.5 litres (2 to 8 cups worth, it's all up to your needs. Kelly Kettle supplies three different volumes for the Stainless Steel and a further three different volumes for the aluminium version). The one I bought was the 570 ml Stainless Steel version (No rust, more robust but most importantly for any of you out there who know anything about chemistry, boiling water a fire source directly on the aluminium will eventually mix traces of aluminium into the water). Cooking accessories are available for all their units to allow a small cooking pot to be placed on a support on top of the chimney, or a grill to be put over the base without using the main water chimney component. These add-ons typically store inside the chimney for transport. Further add-ons can turn the chimney into a small cooking range, with the cooking containers and utensils also being packed into the hollow chimney space or into the Inverted base. The fire bases may be inverted and stored inside the chimney. This purchase was as a kit that already brought all the additional extras. The kids have had numerous fantastic experiences with this unit (even placing marshmallows over the chimney). It really is good value for money for anyone who enjoys the outdoor life and who wants to still experience that "crackle" by the fire over a hot cup of chocolate, coffee, whatever grabs you in this type of experience. I highly recommend this excellent product.

Useless Accessories
I've wanted a Kelly Kettle for years but never took the plunge because of their cost. When I saw that they sold these little cooking sets though I thought it would pay for its self. As a kettle it works brilliantly, you can't fault it and if this review were simply for the kettle itself it would be five stars. With a few twigs you can get a couple of teas brewed in under ten minutes. Advertising it as a complete cooking system however is disingenuous. The kettle can only be placed over the flames when it contains water, otherwise you run the risk of damaging the kettle. So you can see how this then becomes a problem. In my experience, I've boiled the water and then filled the mess tin containing a bag of Uncle Bens style rice in the water, and then placed the tin on the pot stand that comes supplied. You then have to refill the kettle to stop it from boiling dry. What I found was that the kettle, being so efficient, boils again for the second time before the food is sufficiently hot enough to enjoy. It is doable but you'll have to use at least twice the amount of water that is necessary and when you're on a long walk this isn't really ideal. Aside from that, the pot stand is also incredibly wobbly and creates an issue every time you need to remove the pan to add more fuel to the fire. The little fold out stand that goes inside of the base is ok, but you won't get a very fast or hot flame without the chimney part of the kettle to suck air through. I'm still going to use it but I would advise using hexamine blocks in the base on top of the hot ashes to carry on with the cooking process.

Quality, efficient and no more gas use
Fairly light and works a treat. Really does boil water quickly. Adds another dimension to camping looking for fuel and knowing it'll last for a very long time. No running out of gas anxiety! I'd advise getting the hobo stove attachment for cooking.

Yay! Works!
This is an amazing piece of kit. Check everything when you unpack it so that you don't miss the pot holder (it's wrapped in cardboard.) Honestly fantastic - exactly as advertised, and yes, you can cook on it. Not roasts, but porridge, noodles, baked beans, pancakes, tinned soup, fried or scrambled eggs, fried bread, sausages, couscous. You can boil water for your pasta to soften in, fill with water again and heat up pasta sauce to add when the pasta has softened. You can even make a really rotten homemade pizza - which tastes better on the trail. (Don't ask me for the recipe - it's too hilariously embarrassing.) But the main thing is... tea! Lashings of tea!
