A Trusty, Reliable and Efficient Sander for all DIY Projects
I purchased the Bosch Home and Garden Belt Sander PBS 75 A somewhat 14 months ago now, and I have to say, it has exceeded my expectations. As a DIY enthusiast, I was searching for a reliable and efficient tool for various home improvement projects, and this sander fits the bill perfectly. The 710 W motor provides more than enough power for my needs, allowing me to tackle both light sanding tasks and more demanding jobs with ease. I’ve used it on wood surfaces, from furniture restoration to decking preparation, and it has delivered excellent results every time. The sanding speed is impressive, whilst smoothing out surfaces quickly without leaving any unsightly marks. One of the standout features of the PBS 75 A is its ergonomic design. The grip is comfortable, and I can operate it for extended periods without fatigue. The adjustable sanding belt tension is a great feature, allowing for easy changes of the belts - something I appreciate since I frequently switch grits for various tasks. Additionally, the integrated dust collection system works quite well, helping to keep my workspace cleaner than I expected. Bosch has built a reputation for quality, and this product is no exception. The materials feel durable, and the overall build gives me confidence in its longevity. Even after many uses, there are no signs of wear or tear, which is quite encouraging for this price range. If I had to point out a few downsides, I would mention that it can be a bit noisy at times, so using ear protection might be a good idea, especially during prolonged use. Additionally, while the weight is manageable, some users may find it slightly on the heavier side compared to other models. However, for me, the benefits far outweigh these minor inconveniences. Overall, I highly recommend the Bosch Home and Garden Belt Sander PBS 75 A for anyone looking for a dependable and effective sander. Whether you’re a seasoned DIYer or just starting, this tool will certainly meet your needs. The combination of performance, ease of use, and quality makes it a great investment for any toolkit and homeowner!. Would I buy it again? Absolutely!

Very pleased with this sander
My 15 year old Black and Decker finally gave up the ghost and I needed a replacement (sadly, because if it had lasted another couple of hours I wouldn't have to get a new one for six months). I have been making planed timber for shelves and cabinets by ripping lengths of 100mmx45mm (what I used to call 2 by 4s) into 45mmx14mm strips and then gluing them together on their thin edges to form 14mm x up to 450mm boards. The table saw doesn't leave a smooth edge and while you can get one side reasonably flat the other side always has some peaks and troughs that need smoothing off. The severe parts here and there can be planed out but then I have been using the belt sander with 40, then 80 then 120 grit to get the wood really flat. I end up with a pretty good product and from a 2.4m piece of wood that cost me £5 and can turn out a 2.4 m piece of 14mm x 22.5mm planed wood that would have cost me four times that at the store. The cost, of course, is my time, and it is the sanding that takes the most of it. I still have a few things left to make and had just started sanding when the old belt sander made strange crunching noises and seized up. I chose Bosch because I have a number of their tools and have found them to perform well. I read the reviews on Amazon and some other sites and chose this model. I have been extremely pleased with this sander. It must run at a higher speed than the old Black and Decker because it takes longer to run down after you let go the trigger (I noticed I had to hold it longer before putting it down). Maybe this is why it does the job so much faster than the old one – maybe two-thirds the time. The bed is flat, which is good. My old sander had a 45 degree section at the heel where the belt returned and it used to do the occasional "wheelie". This one is quite stable. The back handle is designed so it would be easy to hang on a hook or a dowel and it is large enough that it is quite comfortable. There is a version, sold in Germany, that, for an extra price, includes a base that screws onto the top so it can be turned over and clamped to a bench with the belt facing up or vertically for fixed work. You can get the base as an accessory but I read reviews that said it wasn't worth the money. I have found that the sander sits comfortably on its side (the side with the belt release) with the belt safely clearing the bench, but required a thin shim under the curve of the top edge to get it to exactly 90 degrees to the bench. It was easy to use an F clamp (with a thin piece of wood to protect the sander) to hold it firmly on the bench while I used it to finish the cut ends of the boards. It was easy to make it extremely secure and I had no concerns whatsoever about it wobbling and coming loose (with the old sander it was much more complicated to achieve this and it was never as secure). One reviewer said they shouldn't have made the front handle so big but it is attached with a Phillips screw. It only comes with one belt and that belt is for you to use to test the tracking system. Mine was fine right out of the box. But I suppose if for some reason yours wasn't set properly, it is that free belt that gets eaten as you manually adjust the settings (instructions included) rather than one you have supplied. The Silverline belts sold on Amazon fit it fine and are a great deal – order some when you order the sander.

Good quality belt sander but critical safety feature is missing.
Purchased as I needed to do some heavy sanding work. The built quality is great and belt's last well but my biggest concern was the lack of a safety catch to avoid accidental operation whilst making adjustments to the belt. I lost the top of my index fingerprint using this sander. It could have been significantly worse if I had not let go of the sander as it dragged my finger in to belt assembly. The accident happened as the belt has slide on the runners and was being chewed up. Turning the belt sander over on the side is tension release which is used to solve this problem. I held the sander with one hand whilst I rested the sander on the floor as I adjusted the belt. The sander slide on the floor and my hand holding the sander push the power button trigger dragging my index finger in to the belt mechanism. I appreciate the accident was my fault and I should have isolated power before attempting to adjust the belt but when you are busy trying to finish what you are doing we can all cut corners and the addition of a safety switch mechanism would have saved my finger. If you do buy this sander please unplug during servicing/belt adjusting. Bosch if you are reading this please take note. For such a powerful tool the inclusion of an in-expensive isolation switch would avoid accidents.

Great for the occasional woodworker
Long-lasting performance with a clever clamping system: I've been using this Bosch belt sander for years, and it's consistently reliable and powerful for tackling a variety of sanding tasks. It's built like a tank, so I feel confident using it. My only gripe: While the sander itself is fantastic, the maximum sanding belt width feels a bit limiting for my taste. This means bigger jobs might require switching belts more often than I'd like. Clever workaround: One big plus point is the inclusion of two clamps. These allow you to secure the sander upside down to a table, giving you excellent control and stability for precise sanding tasks. Overall: If you're looking for a durable and versatile belt sander for your workshop, the Bosch definitely deserves a look. Just be aware of the narrower belt width if you anticipate tackling large projects frequently. The clamping system is a great bonus for fine-grained sanding, making it a well-rounded tool for both beginners and experienced woodworkers.

Powerful sander that just keeps going!
Fantastic belt sander - bought this belt sander and this vacuum hose attachment Bosch 2600499045 Connector for Belt Sanders and Random Orbit Sanders to sand the victorian floor boards in my house and have owned the sander about a year. You can see my setup in the attached picture which shows the sander connected to the vacuum. We are at three rooms of five down and the sander keeps on going. Has also been used to take a few mm off sticking doors. Belts that are compatible are available from both Amazon and also screwfix so are easy to get a hold of and you will go through them if doing floors like me! You will also want to wear hearing protection as the sander is quite loud especially when reverberating through the floor. I would definitely recommend this sander as it is powerful enough to sand through plenty of material and has been reliable running for a good few hours at a time (the bottom metal plate does get hot so mind yourself when changing pads while using!). My only reservation with the product is the filter and dust catcher the sander comes with which is probably fine for short quick jobs but any longer and the filter clogs up and you may as well not have the attachment there. I still wore a face mask when sanding as trust me you really don't want 100 year old dust and finish going into your lungs!

Amazing Product
Having recently taken up Up-Cycling I bought one of the cheaper Silverline products, both of which exploded on me after about 2 hours work. So after a little deliberation chosing between cost and quality, I plumped for the quality product and bought this. The ease at which this thing works is very satisfying, and as many others have commented, let the weight of teh product do the work for you... and yes its heavy. I have no problem in recomending this to anyone in the DIY market. The dust filter although works very well, 10 times better than the cheaper bags with zips. But dont expect to be dustfree if you are using this in your home. The power of the cooling fan blows it EVERYWHERE. Yes its noisy, but its a power tool, what would you expect?? This is my 5th Bosch product over many years, and never have I been let down by them. One last thing, if you think you are buying a product from Germany, dont be so nieve. These are made in China as everything is nowadays, but they appear to be keeping good quality control!
