Expensive but reliable
I use these with a custom Zigbee setup not with Hive directly. They are very reliable in terms of connection and performance. The battery lasts a fair time, 3-6 months with regular triggers. Seems stable on Zigbee and doesn't drop out like similar products from other brands. Looks quite pleasant too especially when fitted into a corner, blends in well. Seems to trigger well but does get triggered by our cats which was expected. Attaching it to the wall is easy and they seem sticky and strong enough to not fall off, some I've had up a few years. Not to big but holds a better size battery so worth the additional size to allow longer times between changing.

Quick set up and easy to use
The Hive range of products are well built and reliable, the sensor is simple to add through the app and quick to configure routines to include other Hive products such as lightbulbs. I have this set up so when I open the front door between certain times it turns on the lights in the lounge. Works well and would recommend if you require a quick way of triggering simple routines to integrate other Hive products.

Seems OK
Not sure if it's the position it in , but so times it doesn't register a person , but it works well when it does, have it to set so a light comes on in the eve and then a different one in the early hours

Does not play well with others, until you set it free!
Would probably work well within it's own ecosystem, however, I already have made a considerable investment in smart lights from another manufacturer. This would not usually be an issue as services such as IFTTT allow for interactivity between smart devices from different manufacturers. It would seem that while Hive devices are quite willing to take an input from another device or service and carryout an action (i.e. if it gets dark turn the lights on, if it gets cold turn the heating on) It's quite a different story with their output devices, so instead of the motion detector simply sending an alert to another API and that then carrying out an action, the best you can do is get a notification on your phone or tablet and then set up another action to act on receipt of that notification. This is an unreliable and slow method to achieve an outcome which should be simple and straightforward. EDIT:- Anyone who is tech savvy, BUY THIS SENSOR! Then, set it free with a ZigBee hub and tasmota! Have connected two off these sensors to a third party ZigBee hub, and both have so much more going on than just the IR motion detector, although they are both different..... One also has a temperature sensor, a luminance sensor as well as battery and signal levels. The other has temperature and 'occupancy sensors and also transmits battery and signal levels! OOH THE ZIGBEE!

Perfect Hive Motion Sensor - item as described
This item arrived quickly, a little cheaper than other websites, works exactly as it should, easy to set up and compatible with by Hive bulbs, plug and heating system. Can’t comment on battery life as I’ve only had it a short while. Motion detection is reasonable - a bit slow to update but is fine. 10/10 ⭐️

Picks cats up no problem 😛
Doesn't quite do what it says on the tin My cats set it off😛 On a plus side it isn't as sensitive as the regular motion sensor There are no mounting instructions i.e. portrait or landscape I googled it and it didn't seem to matter I use my sensor to control stair lighting hence the landscape mounting Apart from that it's fine The battery cover is very stiff compared with the regular sensor

Excellent
I really like this motion sensors. Since i put them up, we haven't touched the light switches for the hallway, landing or kitchen sinse! They are sensitive enough to keep the light on with minimal movement in the room. I have them set up to turn lights on from sunset to sunrise for a few minutes, so we never leave the lights on in those rooms now. I'd like to get another for the living room when i can afford. They are fairly expensive, but they work well, and the build quality is good. I've seen a few people complain about battery life, but i haven't had any issues with them, I've had them up for quite a few weeks, (3-4 months-ish) and they are still working fine - as I say, they are in the kitchen, hallway and landing, fairly high traffic areas considering we have a 4yo running around the house too! *Update* I still haven't replaced the batteries in any of the sensors and they are still working perfectly, even in high traffic areas like the hallway. Since writing my original review I purchased another two sensors - for the living room and new extension that we use as a dining room. I've almost forgotten how a light switch works! 😆

Very disappointed
I ordered this sensor to use in my home automation setup. Arrived ok and was easy to pair but then the issue. Detected movement but then continued to read movement for 5 minutes, even when there was no movement around it. Called Hive technical support but they were useless. I work for a well known high end domestic appliance company which produces connected products. I manage teams of software developers and I was a developer myself for 25 years, so the Hive support teams advice was very poor and I had already tried all the suggestions they offered, including upgrading the sensor to the latest version of firmware. Nothing worked. I returned the sensor and received a replacement the next day. Same issue with the new sensor. Hive support was useless again and their finally conclusion was that the retailer must have had an old batch of sensors and stored them in a warehouse for a long time. A very weak excuse as the sensor should still accept and function with the latest firmware update. Only the battery is likely to suffer if the product had been stored for a long period. Sent back 2nd sensor for a full refund and purchased a Samsung motion sensor instead which was actually £5 cheaper. It worked right away and looked and felt a much better design and quality. I had to buy a Smartthings hub, but worth the extra money...

Grazie

Bought to turn off heating while door was open. Did not register the door as closed. Refit in multiple locations, and reset but not luck. Returned.
