Buy Quilting On The Go!: Paper piecing patchwork you can take anywhere: techniques, patterns and projects Reprint by Alexandrakis, Jessica (ISBN: 9781844489022) from desertcart's Book Store. Everyday low prices and free delivery on eligible orders. Review: Attractive, informative and inspiring - I bought this on impulse, having decided to have a go at some patchwork. I like the idea of taking the work with you to do anywhere you like. It is a very attractive book, the cover itself an inspiration to make a start, and inside is everything I needed to know about what I would need to start, techniques needed to make the pieces and sew them, choosing fabrics, and plenty of tips. I like the projects included which are of differing sizes and you could start with a pin cushion, a little sewing kit or a make-up bag, and progress through a cushion cover, a shoulder bag up to a full sized quilt or wall hanging. I found the piecing patterns very informative as I hadn't realised how simply some interesting effects can be achieved by the combination of different shapes. Jessica also shows how variety can be achieved by the placement of different colours and tones, and the encouragement is there to try out different things. I can recommend this book, it was enjoyable even just to read through and I look forward to working on some of the projects. Review: Paper piecing by hand - an essential book! - So many patchwork books are all about machine piecing but this book celebrates the joy that is patch working by hand which is such a soothing and fun hobby which you can do on the move - where ever you are. This book is delightful for people who enjoy English paper piecing and is full of great tips for the beginner or intermediate patchworker. The photos in the book are stunning. the instructions are clear and it is such a inspirational book. Love the pages at the back to help you plot out your own designs. An essential book for anyone who has the patchwork bug!

Fantastic book which has inspired me to try English Paper ...
Fantastic book which has inspired me to try English Paper Piecing again. I am currently sewing together hexagons to make a quilt which are turning out exceptionally well and I feel this is something I am able to do with confidence. I had tried to machine together a quilt top but struggled to get the points of the shapes together and because I did not think it good enough it put me off. However I see Jessica has written another book and I intend to buy this one as well. I am hoping it will inspire me to have another go at machine piecing and quilting as I do not intend to give up on my sewing machine work. At the moment though I will carry on with my hexagons as they look so beautiful and I am very proud of my work. I also intend to try the diamond pattern next and have made my 60 degree diamond template ready and also cut out some card shapes ready. I cannot praise this book enough there are a lot of very good ideas and tips in this book. I have bought several quilting books over the years but this is the one that has helped me the most. Well done Jessica and many thanks for your help.

I loved this book and thought it provided lots of tips and ideas for all those quilters out there who love to quilt while travelling and going out and about. It really was nice and clear in the instructions given.

Excellent book
I wanted to do some hand sewing and the projects in this book will be interesting and achievable. I saw a fellow quilter with this book and I was so impressed with it that I ordered 1 for myself and another 2 for friends. We haven't started any of the projects yet but intend to do so after the summer. I've now ordered 9 of these books as other quilters in my group asked me to get a copy for them after they'd had a look at mine. Amazon must think I own a very selective bookshop (or that my memory is so bad that I keep ordering the same book!). 4 of us currently have projects on the go from this book and are finding the instructions very easy to follow and interesting. I spent 6 hours on a flight to New York tacking dozens of hexagons and now I'm besotted with them!

I love this book, perfect for those new to English paper piecing. There's a lot of instruction with great photos and drawings, and a number of really useful projects as well as different layouts to try and plenty of graph paper to design your own quilts

Fabulous book on English Paper Piecing and crafting while travelling
I love this book. the author is an authority. Check out her quilts on line sometime. She is also a very kind person. Her tips make actually sewing the pieces together so much easier. There are some great project ideas in the book as well. Just in case you realize that EPP is not going to be the craft for you. You can do something without having to finish an entire quilt.

Absolutely brilliant
This is the definitive modern guide to true English Paper Piecing. Ms Alexandrakis covers her subject in exquisite detail, from beginning to end. If you've wanted to try EPP, but haven't been sure how to start, this book will show you everything you'll need to know in clear photos and diagrams. On the other hand, if you've been piecing for years, there are all sorts of useful nuggets to be found, like a chart of yardage for shapes in different sizes/quantities and some beautiful patterns. The author sticks to the basic shapes (square, hexagon, half hexagon, diamond and triangle) and creates some amazing tessellations - just look at the Tanuki stripe throw on page 92. Up to now I've been disappointed in books that claimed to be EPP and weren't - this the real thing. I shall take it to the Regional Quilt Group meetings for all my fabric addicted friends to see, and I recommend it to you unreservedly!

Looking to learning EPP and did lots of research for the perfect book. This book which I purchased as a ebook, not only has lots of detailed information about EPP, but more importantly it has great photography of the steps and finished projects that are provided. Also there is a link to download a PDF file that contained not only the templates, but design sheets based on the shapes being used and she finishes by sharing her resources for supplies and design inspirations.
