10 second Knife & Scissor Sharpener

This is a very effective tool this is the second one I have bought I had the last one for a number of years and it was still effective until it went missing so I bought a new one without hesitation It does need a confident hand though as the blade that is being honed is facing upwards but well worth buying

Bought 3 of these now after finding them to be the best sharpener of this type. It just rules.

What can I say, its a knife sharpener. It works. Easy to use. You can cut yourself on the filings that spray onto the knife as you sharpen, so I would wear gloves, no kidding. Hence the four stars.

I read all the reviews of knife sharpeners on the market. This was the most simple and effective to use and also sharpens scissors. Having used it I can confirm that it is extremely effective and easy to use.

This item works well and is good value for the money. I have bought one of these previously which had replaceable blades. So I was under the impression that I could replace the blades on this model which is almost identical, but when they arrived, I saw they were a version with non-replaceable blades. There is another version that has replaceable blades which is the same make and, imho is much better for the environment as it re-uses the plastic handle. When buying make sure you order the one you want.

I bought this as a replacement for the first one I wore our that took about 5 years to use up. Then I find out it has replaceable parts and to be honest the unit is so inexpensive having one for the kitchen and one for the garage is a good idea. It works great for scissors and once you get the feel for it you'll never go to a professional sharpener again. What I really like is on pocket knives to carving knives it restores the blade from nicks and puts a good edge on in just a few strokes. Safe no worries about cutting yourself and keeping the right angle, etc just pull the unit across the blade a few times, done. Many sharpeners require skill, many require oils or if they are electric you can ruin a blade very fast over sharpening it, not this one. It may not have the flexibility to do a first course and then fine edge but for daily use, fast and easy and it takes up very little space, plus it is maintenance free and simple to use, you can't lose. Replaceable blades make this a really great buy and anyone can use it right out of the package. This is a quick middle of the road solution for getting your basic knives and scissors back to a goo sharp useful condition in 30 seconds or less. Bought my first one because I needed scissor sharpening but bought a second one (for my camper) because this knife sharpening tool is the BEST I've ever used. Over the years I've bought, with varying results, sharpening stones, elaborate gadgets, similar hand held devices and even a $150 electric sharpener (that worked well). This Smiths device, hands down, gives the sharpest knife edge at the best price! Even gave a super sharp edge to my heavy cleaver! Worked well on my scissors too. Note that it does create fine metal filings, so remember to wipe your knife before use. The ceramic rods can be reversed or replaced when they no longer give a great edge, but I'm expecting that won't be too soon. Most of my knives are expensive brand name knives, but very dull when I "adopt them" for a coupla dollars from the Sally Ann or other charity thrift stores. It's such a thrill to bring them back to their intended working glory!
