CTEK 56-382 Indicator Eyelet M8 Practical LED Indicator for Immediate Indication of Battery Charge Levels, Red/Black

I have the standard "comfort" charging sockets on all my bikes and the farm quad etc. I chose this indicator one to fit to my touring bike. It only gets used for camping trips so it tends to sit for long periods. Ordinarily I just stick it on charge once a month but using this clever wee device I can top it up exactly when it needs it. The LEDs are easy to see and the cable is easily long enough to route it from the battery terminals to the outside of the bike frame. The cable insulation feels like good quality as are the eyelets and the socket itself. Smart idea that should help extend the battery life.

Having a couple of CTEK chargers with the 'Comfort Connector' on them which are used to keep the batteries on our cars charged, these are a very simple and very useful device to out on your 12V system. Our cars have the batteries buried in the boot, no alternator/battery state gauge on the dash and just a pair of heavy nuts under the bonnet for jump starting. Checking the battery state normally requires the use of a voltmeter. No longer. I have this device connected across the two terminals under the bonnet, and I can instantly see the colour of the LED and therefore if I need to do something about the battery state. Thanks to the comfort connectors I simply plug a couple of 2.5m extension between the cars and the charger and let it get on with it. No croc clips, no open bonnet or boot whilst charging so the cars are secure at all times. If someone should forget to disconnect and just drives off with the charger still connected then these connectors just pull apart. No risk of fire because the live side is fused. If done properly then there is a water resistant cover that weather proofs the socket.

I recently purchased a CTEK MXS 5.0 for the cars. Wanting to be able to drop/lower the bonnet I also purchased an Indicator Eyelet. The installation process is simple. The nut on the battery connector had corroded and was a little unhappy being budged - but eventually, I managed it, making sure not to lose the bolt down the engine bay. Once fitted it flashed - but that wasn't the main reason for it. The main reason was to allow a quick plugin of the new charger. Planning to get another one for one of our other cars for the same reason to share the charger around the cars. Good product - easy to install (assuming your battery terminal lets you)

Great item and does the job well Fair price and design

I bought two of these along with a CTEK charger for use on cars that do not have daily use. My cars have difficult to access batteries, so this provides a permanent wiring solution that meets my needs. The added bonus is that the comfort indicator gives a visual indication of your car battery charge. The 'traffic light' system shows FLASHING GREEN for battery is okay, and doesn't need charging (however it would still be okay to attach the CTEK charger, as it will maintain the charge on an okay battery). YELLOW means, attach your CTEK charger, as the battery requires a charge, and harm will occur in the long term if left in this partially discharged state. RED means that the battery is discharged to a state where your battery is in danger of not starting the car and may not hold a charge if not charged immediately. The comfort indicator also has a handy cap to cover the contacts on the end of the cable (where the charger attaches). This is a very useful addition to the CTEK charger.

I have a small collection of classic motorcycles (7) each of which has one of these fitted. So easy to keep an eye on battery condition especially when the bikes are not used over the winter period. When the red lamp flashes I simply plug in the charger to bring the battery back to a charged condition. If the LED flashes an amber or red LED not long after charging indicates the battery is not holding it's charge & is probably on it's way out & may need replacing soon. In my experience (I'm an electronics engineer & have owned many many motorcycles using low capacity batteries) lead acid batteries like to be slowly discharged & slowly charged & not be held at a constant fully charged level for months at a time. This Ctek indicator eyelet is perfect for this charge cycling of lead acid batteries. Highly recommended. Well built, easy to install and use with Ctek brand chargers. My wife and I don't drive our cars very often, sometimes 2 or more weeks between trips since online delivery and work-at-home are now our way of life. Problem was that newer vehicles really run down the battery, even while sitting in garage. Twice we had dead batteries (ouch!) and I was getting tired of opening hoods to check voltage, put on the charging clamps, removing and closing hood - etc. Solution was to install these connector+monitors on each vehicle. I extended the wires so the connector+monitor end comes out close to windshield - thus no need to open the hood for charging, and I can see the monitoring LEDs just by walking into the garage. I leave the newest vehicle plugged in 90% of the time, only unplugging it when the 2nd car shows "charge level Yellow" and thus needs a top-up charge. Charger is hung from ceiling, with cord easily moved from Vehicle A to Vehicle B. Real time saver, no dead batteries, and no worries about whether I got the hood properly latched each week.
