Lindam Sure Shut Porte Safety Gate

Important: This gate is not supposed to be used at the top of the stairs. This gate allows us to leave the door to our living (play) room open while preventing our baby from exiting. The gate was easy to install and the mechanisms works well. Our 3-year-old cannot open (yet) either. Although it doesn't require screws, it has these sticky pads which it instructs you to stick to the wall. We live in a rented house, thus I just stuck the pad to the plastic side and left the paper on the side that contact the wall. By tightening the screws (with the included little spanner), the gate is a snug fit in the door and no one has escaped yet. The door can also still close with the gate intact I wouldn't trust it at the top of the stairs and neither do the manufacturers. There are multiple pictures everywhere that warn not to use at the top of the stairs. It's too bad because the gate works well and it would be very useful if it could be reliably used at the top of the stairs. It can be used at the bottom of the stairs safely. I also thought when I bought it that we could use one gate and move it around. For this gate, that would be quite annoying because you'd have to get the spanner out each time. Thus, we have decided to leave in place and order another gate if we need it elsewhere. Or perhaps find another model that is more easily transported. Also, I bought these "wall protectors" to use with the gate. However, they are enormous and cannot be used in the door frame. Hopefully the thin foam pads will protect the door frame from the pressure of the plastic and metal parts.

Brought this stair gate to keep our dog in the kitchen when we answer the front door. Fantastic value for money, really easy to install in a door aperture, very clear and easy to use instructions it's also very sturdy and very well made and has a two way gate stop device that you fit to the lower bar of the gate if you only want it to open one way or stop it opening completely and makes the gate very solid when used. Gate catch is well designed and easy to use for opening and you can push shut it without operating the catch and it shuts with a reassuring click. To sum up. Well made, easy to install, easy to operate, value for money and comes with a 25 year guarantee. What more could you ask for, highly recommended.

Definitely a sturdy gate and a really good price, however it certainly doesn't swing shut unless you push the gate. Very easy to assemble by just twisting the bolts to cause pressure I wasn't sure if it would work on an uneven wall but there was no problems with that.

Really good gate.. unfortunately I ordered the wrong size so was too large for the width of the doorway.. gave it away so someone got the use of it

We bought this for visits of grandchildren. It was easy to fit and is very flexible about widths of stairs. The upper width is greater on our stairs than the lower but no problems. The gate is made really well and holds very strongly when the bolts are tightened. The gate opens very easily when the handles are squeezed but is very safe and cannot be opened by little fingers. We are delighted with this and can quickly insert it when we are to be visited and take it down for storage afterwards. Strongly recommended.

I loved this as it was easy to install and stopped my doggies from running upstairs to get up to mischief!!! You do NOT need to scre it into a wall etc. It uses pressure instead and comes with all tools (spanner) to help make the perfect fit. This has been totally worth the money for my oeace of mind. By the way, the lock on the gate part looks like it's out of alignment, but you have to tighten up the gate when installing it and the gate section moves towards the lock. I would totally recommend this purchase.

This gate is one of the easiest baby gates I've used. Previously I've used the ones where you have the squeeze and pull the handle up to open the gate. As I have rubbish pinch strength, I found it harder to open when holding baby. Also closing you need to make sure the gate is fully lined up before you pull down the handle. With this one you just swing it shut to close. To open simply squeeze the top and bottom. Though the squeeze part is similar to the other gate type, the two parts you need to squeeze on this gate are wider apart, so its easier to open.
