Westland Potting Grit, 20kg

Very happy with this. The product is well priced given the large amount that you receive. And the small grit pieces are the perfect size for containers and blends in well with the compost. Or makes a classy appearance when used on the surface of the soil surrounding the base of the plants. Would definitely recommend.

This grit is a good product and I wanted to reorder. First time this product was ordered, it was delivered promptly and I was highly satisfied…but the second time of ordering has not gone smoothly. The courier company DPD has messed up and after a week I am still waiting… I know this is a heavy item - that’s why I went online.

After a little mishap with the original order I was refunded and able to re-order the same product and was delivered the following day. Quick communication from the seller which was great. This is great for my household plants it makes them nice as they don’t like to sit in wet compost. I’ve also put in my cactus and succulents it makes them really stand out. Love the price and great value for money. Thank you

I’ve put this around the shrubs in pots. It looks really good. Though the worm casts are a nightmare. But they’ll just wash in when I get back to watering the pots in the summer.

This product is excellent.Great price.However it was delivered by dpd.I am 80 years old and the del guy was rude disrespectful and threatening So much so I have made a complaint to dpd.Sadly means I cannot risk ordering more of this excellent product .Only because of del experience

It was exactly as described, but there was a lot of reddish mud or sand on it which came off on my hands, so if you are using this for other purposes to planting, you may like to wash it. Please buy proper Aquarium substrate if using in a fish tank, as this will be clean. I used it to mix in with compost to taking camilia cuttings. It worked well, provides good drainage and moisture retention. It mixes well and is good value. Size of the bag is good and was double packaged. Bag not so portable as I am recovering from health problem, so I have it sat in the entrance hall, which is less than idea, so I take an amount from the bag until it becomes lighter for me to move.

I bought this grit as a topper for all of my houseplants to try to prevent the dreaded fungus gnats - so far so good! Immediately after using it to top all the pots, there was a noticeable difference in the number of gnats around the plants and I feel confident that the grit is definitely helping. I personally like the look of the grit, it looks natural, not like some of the decorative stones you can get that look a bit fake. The bag of grit was delivered inside another standard plastic delivery bag, no issues with any rips/tears or spillages. It is 20kg so be warned, understandably very heavy to have to shift! The grit size is very small (you might find the occasional rogue stone that is slightly bigger than the rest) and really easy to work with and push/press down in the pots. Has definitely improved the appearance of my houseplant pots. Fingers crossed it continues to do the job against the fungus gnats!
