Black Hole Floor Protector for Cello

Absolutely brilliant bit of kit. Works on any surface.

I bought this after experimenting with a belt, which does not suit me, and another similar device which proved useless on my very smooth vinil flooring. I have to say that it feels rock solid. If the underneath is not clean, it can slip, but it ony takes one quick rub on my trousers to fix this. In order to work well it requires a reasonably clean floor, I think. The hole is small, which is a good thing because it helps preventing slipping, but it will still allow to keep your cello tilted towards you, if that is your thing. Another product I tried did not have a flat bottom and had a much larger hole. It kept slipping when tilting the cello. Regarding the price, it is pretty good I think. Some might argue it is just rubber and plastic, but in the end it makes a massive difference in stability. A slipping instrument is hugely frustrating and spoils practise and music, so for me this was a pretty good deal and I regret not buying it right away. I did not try it on other floors, carpet or similar, so my review only applies to my slippery vinyl floor.

It was exactly what I wanted, and arrived very promptly.

It's good, it's cheap, it does the job.

This does work but you have to wash it regularly to maintain the non slip. Which is a pain at times.

These are the only spike anti-slip devices I use. They're great. On a dusty floor you may need to spit on the back for it to grip but ignore the disapproving looks... your wind-playing colleagues are doing far less hygenic things all the time!
