Used attached to Arduino with success. Wired VCC to ...

The media could not be loaded. Used attached to Arduino with success. Wired VCC to the Arduino uno 3.3v, Gnd to Gnd and the Analog pin to Arduino A0 pin. Used adafruit mic sketch to sample the pin and output to led matrix. Change the sketch to use 420 as the max peak to peak, not 1024 as in the adafruit example. Did not test digital output.

Way overpriced, poor detection range

For $9 a module plus $5 shipping this module is just not worth it. It works fine if you put the microphone basically right next to your audio source, but other than that it's essentially useless. Because of the physics of the electret microphone, this is going to heavily favor low and high pitches and ignore a lot of mid-ranges.For anyone recreating some of these music visualizer projects with an Arduino, analogRead() is going to give you a number between 150-700, not the full 0-1024 (10-bit ADC resolution). You can use map and fscale to adjust the input to a workable spectrum (e.g. 150, 700 --> 0, NUM_LEDS using A0 as input). Again, this microphone needs to basically be right next to your audio source to give you any kind of workable signal. For anyone trying to visualize audio with an Arduino -- I would strongly recommend you look at using a 3.5mm jack input and rectify/bias the input signal (and if you want to get into frequency/spectrum visualizer, look into using the ArduinoFFT library).
