This book fit the bill. It has significantly more detail that I need, but is still sufficiently readable for my use. I see it in the bookshelves of most of my coworkers, as well. It must be a little bit dated (as are all four books I purchased, except for one), as I could find no references to recent developments, such as CPRI, in which I had a special interest. I found Kreher and Gaenger's "LTE Signalling: Troubleshooting and Performance Measurement", published in 2016, had quite a bit of CPRI-related coverage. Review: Comprehensive and easy read intro to LTE. - I only read the first chapter and browsed the rest. It covers most concepts of LTE and it seems to explain how protocols and methods work in enough detail for an engineer who has basic communications knowledge. There are a few charts would be better understandable with color use instead of grey scale.
