Loaded with details, "Ouran" is a must read.
This manga is hilarious. Short summary: Poor girl/boy at a rich school walks in a room which is the base of a "host club". Girl/boy breaks expensive vase, and must pay off any way possible. Gender bending fun ensues, as rich kids find themselves affected by the common folk. Filled with humor that almost made me pee my pants, ("Hunny! Eat your cake!" OKAY!) and randomness reminiscent of Azumanga Daioh, this manga is full of details that make this book more than worthy of the $8.95 Shojo Beat is asking for. The characters (which this series is based around) are all interesting, if not over the top, and incredibly fun to watch as they run around doing what they do. This manga is good for both Newcomers and old school readers. In fact, I recommend that you let your non-manga reading friends read this. Some of my friends were converted (into manga reading folks!) because of this book. Only flaw, is the lack of consistency of the drawing styles, but that is very easily overlooked by the story. (It remindes me slightly of "Forbidden Dance" Manga-ka Hinako Ashihara, but funner!) Oh yeah, for you Yaoi fans, NONE OF IT. Good clean manga. :P

It’s so interesting
It’s so interesting and I love how to keep with the original format of the manga. It goes to right to left and it’s so funny to see the emotions.

If You LOVED the Anime, you'll LOVE This!
Plot: Haruhi Fujioka is the "new girl" at Ouran High School, a high school for the rich and beautiful as one of the characters would say. Trying to find a quiet place to study, she finds herself in an "abandoned" music room which is actually a host club to treat the female visitors with coffee and romance. She finds herself among the club's key members and gets scared which leads to her running backwards and breaking an expensive vase! She winds up dressing as a boy to pay her debt to the club and eventually finds herself in new and fun situations with her newfound friends! Will she ever pay off the debt? Will anyone find out she's actually a girl? Will she fall in love with one of the host club members? You must read to find out! I watched the anime first when it came to Ouran and I can easily say it is my favorite animes of all time! So of course I had to go on Amazon and purchase the manga. I was skeptical at first, but I must say once I started it, I couldn't put it down and then I reread it two more times. Saying this, you can tell I fell in love. I may love the anime more, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't read this. The only reason I didn't buy the rest of the series was to save the money and I could easily watch the anime online. But if you love manga or are new to Japanese culture, please read! You will love the characters almost as much as I do!

A BIG fan!
If one has watched the anime, this entire book is in the series. I personally took the time and decided to read through the early books anyway. I'm glad I did! There are details that were changed, and the timeline is slightly different within the manga. That detail helped the entertainment level to still be high, even though the chapters' stories I already knew. This book was enough to get me hooked, and now I'm getting into the part of the series only the readers will be able to enjoy. Now to mention the bonus chapters that pop in and out of the series! Wonderful manga; humorous, fun, and a touch of drama here and there!

Ouran High School Host Club, a manga in which I have watched the anime numerous times but not actually sat to read the source material of. I know, I know, there will be great shame upon my household for this. So, what can I say about this first volume of Ouran? Bisco Hatori's art style is very beautiful, creating very elegant looking figures that can be turned into these comedic pieces without loosing any of that beauty - a real skill! While this does seem to be, at first glance, a reverse harem manga, our lead female Haruhi gives a personality that can reassure the reader that we will actually be in for an entertaining lead, with characters who are layered beyond the usual shojo cliches. Haruhi is a scholarship student at the Ouran Academy, a school that is primarily reserved for the extremely wealthy. She comes across the Host Club by sheer accident and it is another accident that leads to her working for them. Did I mention they initially think Haruhi is a boy? While gender doesn't seem to be the main issue of this manga - it's set up to be a comedic romp - it is interesting to note that Haruhi's views on gender are often addressed, and from a GLBTQI+ standpoint, they come across as very accepting and open, a rarity in the shojo manga I have come across. (Which... isn't many, actually, so I'd like to know examples of others if they exist) The hosts themselves are delightful romps, each filling their "role" within the club but already showing aspects of being people beyond the cliche. It'll be fun to follow this manga - 1 down, 17 more to go - and find out how they all develop. Definitely one for people to pick up, and check out the anime too, it's really one of the best I've seen!

Las esquinas están un poco dobladas, y la solapa de atrás está manchada con lo que parece ser pegamento, pero por lo demás está perfecto.
