This book is fantastic! Parascandalo starts with commonly used tools for creating patterns in analog format, and includes information about converting them to digital. Patterns are separated into different types, with 4 examples of each type, information about that type of pattern, and then the step-by-step guide for creating your own. I love that each guide includes a breakdown of the types of flowers she's using to create her pattern, as well as tips for steps where people may struggle. The book is well written, clearly organized, and the full-color examples are actually helpful in seeing how the different patterns are laid out.

I first checked this book out from the library and it was such a good resource on surface pattern design that I decided to purchase it for permanent reference.

Pretty book. Good reference.

This book has a good structure with several step by step guides on how to create pattern for both digital and traditional options. Part of the book is "project" section with different patterns design categories ( I think it's a good refresher and can be an inspiration for professionals as well). It has category characteristic , examples and short "how to" section. Book doesn't teach you how to draw - this is all about building pattern in different styles and composition from your drawing. I found this book practical and educational. If you need base from where to start - this book is for you.

Really good book! Great information for pattern designers!

This is a great visual guidebook that you can actually hold in your hands and work through as needed instead of getting all of your instruction digitally. I originally checked out through my library...a few pages in, I knew I wanted it. Lovely book, thoughtful guidance.

Great information

This books is beautifully written and illustrated, and has been so incredibly helpful. I am a beginner when it comes to pattern design and this was the exact book I was looking for! It is full of useful information as well as so many beautiful patterns providing such inspiration. Would recommend to anyone interested in pattern design!

Ansprechend gestaltetes Buch, voller Inhalt, Mehrwert, schöner Beispiele, angenehm getextet. Ich liebe es einfach und nehme es gern in die Hand. Obwohl ich selbst einen völlig anderen Stil habe (weniger blumig ;), mag ich ihre Floral Patterns sehr. Es könnte ruhig weitere Bücher von dieser Autorin geben. Als Patterndesignerin kann ich nicht genug Inspiration tanken und natürlich genieße ich auch einfach nur die schönen Patterns. :) Fazit: empfehlenswert.

Livro bem completo, várias técnicas, muitos exemplos e ilustrações. Recomendo para iniciantes e designers mais experientes também! As estampas são lindas!

Mi piace molto. Anche se è in inglese è comprensibile e spiega in modo chiaro come creare dei bei pattern floreali partendo da elementi anche minimali. Mi piace molto anche la scelta della carta opaca che fa risaltare i colori e non stanca gli occhi. Consigliato a chi si approccia al mondo dei pattern!

Just what I was looking for. This is an easy to follow book with great examples and projects with clear instructions. Beautiful bright inspiring pictures of all sorts of pattern types with details on how to create each one. Motivated me to create more of my own style easily in Photoshop.
