Riddle Box

This is a very essential album in ICP's very long catalog and with good reason: This was ICP's first-ever major label release as they were signed to Jive Records and this is the album where the wickedness kicks into full effect in ICP's music. Even today, This album is still held in high regard by juggalos new and old and many of the songs on this album are classics in their own right. From start to finish, you can literally just press play and kick back and listen as Violent J and Shaggy 2 Dope kick dope rhymes and tell wicked stories from start to finish. Just one listen to The Joker's Wild will make you wanna own this album cause that track alone is ADDICTING and unforgettable!! Mike E. Clark as always does an outstanding job as the producer and everything on this album just seemed to click and you could even say that this album is a milestone for the horrorcore genre as i'd be willing to bet that this album was listened to by many of the current crop of horrorcore artists. Just about every single song is a classic here but the definite highlights include Toy Box, I'm Coming Home, The Killing Fields [the best and darkest song on the album], The Joker's Wild, Ol Evil Eye [A dope song that's inspired by The Tell-Tale Heart], and The Show Must Go On. Unlike much of the albums that followed this, ICP did a great great job of balancing out the humor and the horror aspects of their music as this album is menacing as all hell. This album will also probably hold a special place in many juggalos as this album was one of the first albums that introduced ICP to music fans outside of the midwest and inevitably spawned new juggalos. Although ICP were beginning to change their sound up a little bit here [as evidenced by the good but overrated slaughter house mix of Chicken Huntin], This will still appeal to those who like the pure rap side of ICP as the guitars are thankfully kept to a minimum here [ICP are at their best when they rap over pure rap beats]. If you're a juggalo or you just happen to like ICP or horrorcore, then you MUST get this album as soon as possible! Note: In 2008, The Riddle Box [Vinyl ] was issued for the first time ever in Vinyl and i must say that the vinyl version, although more expensive, was very well done and it sounds great on the right record player [I know because i bought it last year]. Insane Clown Posse are undoubtedly one of the wierdest rap artists out there and I just love them. Hailing from Detroit, they give us an insight into how life can be if you decide you just don't care anymore!(they would put it more obscenely than that!!) Great to listen to when you want to laugh or feel that authority is getting you down.

It is exactly what it should be

Cet album est désormais devenu un incontournable dans la discographie d'ICP. Le 3è volet de la saga du Dark Carnival sonne comme une nette évolution du groupe après leurs deux premières Jokers Card ('Carnival of Carnage' et 'Ringmaster'). Nous communicant toujours ses sujets de cimetières et de cadavres sur des notes comiques, je parle entre autre de "Dead body man" qui est à mon gout la plus marrante de l'album. Une track assez ironique et ambiguë, qui ne perd pas son sens de l'humour ("Lil somthin' somthin"), une belle histoire d'amour cadavérique dans "Cemetery Girl" et leur classique "Chicken huntin". Il y a aussi une chanson transformée en plateau de jeu télé "The Joker's wild" menée par Shaggy 2 Dope. Concept qui reviendra souvent dans les albums suivants. Cet album sonne bien le rap old school sous un angle original et divertissant. En cas de coup de blues, écoutez Riddle Box et il sera difficile de ne pas rire avec en plus une ambiance originale que seulement les deux clowns sont capable de transmettre! haha

Der absolute Wahnsinn!!! Das Meisterstück der besten und abgedrehtesten Band der Welt.Noch besser als "The Great Milenko". Die Übertracks der Scheibe sind das total durchgeknallte "Toy Box" oder das dunkle "Ol Evil Eyes". Neben "The Great M..." und "The Amazing..." ein absolutes muß. Punkt.
