CISM Review Manual, 16th Edition

The Review Manual is broken up into the four chapters that align with the CISM exam. It doesn't have 20 chapters like in Chapple's book that jump around which makes it easier to follow for each domain. There are very few typos and the typos that are there are so minor they are not worth really mention; I found one duplication of a bullet point; I found a space incorrectly inserted before a comma. One word should have had a hyphen and didn't. So very minor. Some areas are hard to follow through. You have to be committed to get through this whole book.

I think it conveys the required information. However the text is riddled with typos, errors, and is quite repetitive in parts and overly verbose. It makes a repeated disclaimer that the content does not cover everything for the exam to enable you to pass - I imagine for legal reasons - but this should be the goal of the official guide. I hope they make major improvements for the 17th edition.

After beginning my review of this manual to understand the differences from the last version I find myself frustrated and annoyed. In general it appears that this book has been refined a step further. This in general is the path ISACA has been on with this material over the years. BUT... There is NO GLOSSARY. The table of contents is less detailed as well. I am trying to find a topic. A specific topic. It has been moved from the last version of the book, but I do not know where it went or if it is still in this book. I now have to look at every page of the book until I find it. DISAPPOINTED in ISACA. You are acting like ISC2 - thinking that an index is not needed and not worthy of your time. You have missed the mark. it is CRITICAl for people when they are preparing for this exam.

Same general structure as the 15th edition with a few tweaks information-wise. Clearly a glossary here so not sure what that other reviewer was on about. No index but I have the 15th edition that has one so no big deal. If you have the 15th edition but thinking about getting this one I think you’re safe to just study with the 15th.

From composition, logical structure, to content reviewed - important points barely grazed and trivial matters verbosely and repeatedly covered - have I ever read a "professional" publication so poorly written. It's enough to make me question ISACA's commitment to the industry. At this later in the revision history, this is clearly a money grab. Would be test takers are better off buying 3rd party materials and question banks.

I live this book. Simply broken down and very relevant and informative. A good one.

The content is unclear, it's poorly structured, and is ambiguous at times. Very poor book by ISACA.
