I recently added a pre-workout shake to my regimen, but I had a lot of trouble finding one I liked for many reasons: 1. Ineffective ingredients (which can be either useless or harmful) 2. Inadequate or excessive amounts of the ingredients which are actually evidence based to provide you benefits. A pre-workout shake should not be one-size-fits-all. 3. CAFFEINE! (and other stimulants) - I know it is effective at giving you a boost, but I workout at night within a few hours of sleeping... 4. Price - 30 servings for like $50? Forget that! BulkSupplements solved ALL my problems! By ordering four of the most scientifically proven pre-workout supplements in bulk, I saved money and have more control over what I am putting in my body and in what amounts. I ordered the following four products for my pre-workout: Beta Alanine Creatine Monohydrate BCAAs L-Citrulline BulkSupplements has a huge variety of products available at ridiculously good prices with a huge number of serving sizes. Instead of dropping $50 for about 30 servings, I have hundreds of servings for about the same price. I have used the above four ingredients mixed with a bit of water about 10 times now. Some observations: PROS - They WORK! There is a noticeable difference in my workouts. I feel more energized (and less lethargic mid-set), I have more power behind each rep, and I am seeing results a lot faster. - They take about 15-30 minutes to "kick in" depending on how big/recent my last meal was. - I am able to experiment with proportions of each ingredient to find the best fit for me. - As I have a chance to do more research I will be able to add new products to my regimen easily since I can buy each one individually. - Most importantly, I love that I have these ingredients as separate packages! This enables me to use each ingredient for multiple purposes (like using the BCAAs in both my pre-workout and my post-workout; allowing me to saturate with higher doses of creatine before I go down to a maintenance level, etc.) CONS - Taste and appearance. Yeah, pre-mixed pre-workouts probably taste better and look like a fancy sports drink because they are filled with Xylitol and Yellow-80, so my mixture of 4 ingredients plus a little water leaves me gagging over the sink trying to choke it down. But I kind of expected that. You may be able to mix this with orange juice or something to make it less awful? - Packaging. No scoops and the zip lock is kind of hard to close. Also, the bags are pretty inflexible, so I have to shove them down into the drawer I store them in.

I have been using this product just over a week now. So far I am pleased with the results. I have not yet noticed too much as far as an increase in strength as I have read about as a result of use over time, but I am very happy with the results as a pre-workout supplement. Like creatine I have read that it takes time to see results but since I have been taking creatine for quite some time now and Im not sure if I will notice the increase in strength from the BA due to the results I see from creatine. I will continue to use the product and update that part. I have been taking anywhere from the amount recommended of 500mg to 1.5g prior to a workout. I didnt notice much with the 500mg dosage but I did after the 2nd time of the same dose later that day. So the next day I tried 1mg and the following day 1.5mg prior to my workout. Those dosages both gave me a great increase in energy and a little bit of the tingles, but it was hardly noticeable. I usually take around 100mg of caffeine and 1g of L Arginine prior to my workouts so I have now added the BA to my stack and will continue to do so. The only downside is there is a bit of an lingering acidic aftertaste that is hard to get rid of if you dont mix it into juice or a shake. Dont recommend taking it by itself or with water for that reason, but it is a pure supplement so thats what BA tastes like. I'd rather not have taste additives and other crap you have to pay for.

Background: I am about 182 pounds, 5'8" and I lift 5 days a week with some HIIT training thrown in a couple times a week. Vendor review: I have found that Bulk supplements is a great Amazon vendor and have now ordered taurine, arginine, creatine, and theanine and have found that everything gets delivered quickly and the packaging is your typical high quality air tight bags. I was using another vendor before I found bulk supplements, and while comparable, if you're a prime member these guys end up costing a few bucks less and you get it sooner! Product review: As for my review of the actual product I can tell you that the Beta-Alanine powder appears to be high quality. It has a typical consistency I have seen with other bulk powders (I have not ordered BA from another supplier to compare). When taking it with just water as a shot I feel tingles down my throat, which I have read is normal. With that said, I split up my 5gs a day in three serving so I avoid the tingling sensation some people feel in their muscles while taking. I also split this up at least an hour away from my taurine intake to ensure proper absorption. Have I seen increased gains in the gym since taking this, starting a week ago? Yes! Am I comfortable attributing this to the BA at this point? No, as this supplement requires a 4-6 week loading time. The gains could very well be a mental placebo or coincidence at this point. Note: I will try and remember to update this review in a couple months with some real results as to my training increases. All in all I have found this vendor to be high quality and they have become my go to for supplements. If anyone in interested in learning more about BA read this article: [...]

First of all, let me say that this review is not because I received a free product from BS. I paid full price based on the excellent reviews I have read. I bought 4 different supplements, garcinia, L-Arginine, creatine and beta alanine. I have been taking all 4 supplements together, and have noticed quite a positive effect. For one, I take these as part of a preworkout routine and immediately noticed that I am able to do much more than before without getting the jittery feeling I would get from C4 and CN3. Also, recovery is much much better, I hardly feel sore after an intensive workout. Furthermore, my strength is increased and I've been lifting more and more weights. There is no GI irritation at all, and heartburn is non-existent. I used to not tolerate C4 and CN3 very well, this combination has been a wonderful addition to my regimen. Garcinia has helped with appetite control as well, but not by a huge factor. Combining all 4 products in water is completely tasteless, and they all mix very well. Overall, I believe I have received very high quality supplements, and will buy again. Only gripe is the packaging, kinda hard to keep tightly sealed, so I moved the contents in air tight containers. For long term storage, maybe BS could put in some moisture absorbing crystals in their bags, but I'm not sure how much it would clump, as I have only used the supplements for a week. Again, I highly recommend this company, super great experience!

Slowly but surely been converting many of my supplements to bulksupplements and such is the case with pure beta alanine. If you have experienced being surprised or being unaware of the tingling effects of beta alanine you didn't do enough research. One of the keys to making beta alanine effective for you will be the dosage. For me one tablespoon in a bottle of gatorade and sip on it throughout my (plus 1/2 gallon of water) 1-1 1/2 hour workout (includes 1/2 treadmill) works right now. For me it doesn't make me immediately stronger or directly give me a super pump. Rather with time, beta alanine increases my stamina and enables me to get that last rep or two or three and has definitely helped me with time get to my all time highs once again in all body parts. I sweat a lot and can smell ammonia but using beta alanine the ammonia smell is lessened. I've read where the excretion of body ammonia is the onset of fatigue this seems to mitigate that. How effective and important is beta alanine to me? Include it in my top 4/5 supplements along with protein, creatine, arginine/orthinine. Supplement taste is always very subjective. For me the taste is mild. Quality, quantity, price and results giving this one a five star, highly recommend. And with 2 day shipping through amazon couldn't be happier.
