Review: Bought as a gift for my dad for Xmas. I'm always looking for something a little different as an extra. The spores for growing need to be ordered separately when you are ready to start growing your mushrooms. The kit is good and the spores arrived really quick when he was ready to cultivate. Personally I do think it's quite expensive for what it is. You do get a couple of harvests from it. Once they start growing you have to put in a bit of effort with spraying them a few times a day to keep them moist. Once they start they grow really fast and appear to just explode into massive mushrooms! It's quite fun to watch their progress, and I think it's a great project for kids. They don't need to wait ages for results with their limited patience. We made some omelets with our mushrooms, and they tasted great. All in, it ticks a lots of boxes as a unique quirky gift, and I'd like to try some of the other variety of mushrooms available. The kit itself allows you to do everything. The only downside is that it's an expensive hobby if you go down this route. You're probably better off ordering spores elsewhere if you intend to keep growing them. Review: Wonderful kit, it really is. It makes the process pretty simple, the only issue is that during sterilisation you are told to roll down the lid of a boiling hot bag of water and steam with only the helpful suggestion that you "take care" if you have oven gloves, its a good time to use them. For me they were a little slower to progress than expected but the websites instructions come with very useful photographs of what each stage should look like. Its really important not to try to fruit them too early! I got two flushes out of my packet and probably would have gotten a third if not for a minor ant invasion. This is a wonderful beginner kit that gets you familiar with basically everything you need to know, the only bit missing is cultivating your own spawn but that does require more professional kit and is more temperamental so most folks just buy spawn when needed instead.

Great idea, unfortunately they didn’t grow for me despite having them stored where recommended. Maybe just a bad batch as I have previously had them grow fine.

I bought this kit hoping for a quick and easy way to grow mushrooms at home, but it turned out to be a frustrating and misleading experience. The product description makes it sound like everything you need is included, but that’s not the case. First, the living spawn isn’t included in the box. You have to redeem a voucher, wait for it to be sent separately (which took an extra three days for me), and only then can you start the growing process. This setup seems designed to save the seller money on logistics by shifting the burden onto the customer. When the spawn finally arrived, the process to germinate was far more complex and time-consuming than advertised. You need to follow detailed steps, store the kit at different temperatures, and troubleshoot if things go wrong. This is not the "fast-growing" or "easy" kit they claim. On top of that, the kit was supposed to include a spray bottle for watering, but mine didn’t. It’s just another example of how poorly thought out and incomplete this product is. Overall, this kit is more of a DIY science project than a convenient way to grow mushrooms. The description is misleading, the product isn’t complete, and the process is unnecessarily complicated. I wouldn’t recommend this to anyone looking for a straightforward or enjoyable experience.

Not a good system. After several months, I only saw one tiny head of mushrooms grow, and even that has some sort of contamination as I can see mold growing on it.
