Behringer RD-9 Analog Drum Machine

Firstly, this thing is substantial! Although it’s only plastic, it’s well-built and can take to the road / stage easily. The drum voices are just lovely, and the pitch and tone knobs afford almost endless customization. I also like the envelope (attack and sustain) and effects (including a HPF) features for sound shaping. I highly recommend either this or the RD-8, both are a great value. They are definitely the gateway to snooping on Reverb for vintage drum machines, so be careful!

You didn't expect it to sound like your favorite Deadmua5, Tiesto or Armin song did you? An original TR-909 has a very dry, dark unprocessed sound. I expected this much when I ordered my RD-9 and it definitely delivers! A true analog tone just like the original, ready to be processed! So get your favorite preamps, compressors, filters, EQ's and distortion effects lined up! Still, out of the box, this machine has a great sound and the added new features make this a must have for all TR-909 aficionados.

Announced years ago, Behringer is slowly but surely releasing batches of RD-9s. For the price, this drum machine cannot be beat (well, maybe the RD-8). All the sounds are there and close enough to get you rockin’ that kick, hihat, and clap! It looks and sounds the part. I can’t wait to process the individual outs. The step keys aren’t mechanical like real keyboard keys, but function none the less. Nothing beats analog allowing you to tweak the parts just right. Another winner ! Bravo Behringer!!!!

Just amazing

Received my RD-9 with noticeable blemishes on the soft button and casing. I wanted to exchange my unit for an unblemished one, but have received no assistance in trying to do so by the seller. Quality control and customer service by Adorama is disappointing. They have lost my business at the very least.

Sounds great and does a lot but the ride doesn’t like to work all the time.
