Love the look of this stain. Also, can be applied in different temperature ranges. Does need time to dry and out gas. I used 2 coats to get it a little darker but 1 coat does work and does look good.

Varathane has been a good product, and I've used it for the past 40 or 50 years. Description of this particular item is not consistent with instructions on the can. The can notes that this is not for outdoor use or on floors... not what the ad on Amazon says. Apparently Rustoleum has purchased the Varathane brand and there are fewer colored products available now. Depending on how this holds up, I'll post an updated review in the future. 4 stars because of inaccurate description on the site and because of the uncertainty regarding the apparent transfer of ownership.

Some spots I had to put more than one coat but that's normal. Make sure you stir it before use to prevent spots from not matching gloss wise. It is also humid right now and this wall is in a room with out ac so it took a little longer to dry but that is the humidity not the product. Overall great product.

While I like and recommend Varathane. Brand (oil base) ,polyurethane, I'm very disappointed in their poly-stain.!! This was supposed to be Early American which that color has historically had an orange tint to it and is just a little darker than maple. This product that Varathane has passed off as Early American is dark -- darker than a dark Oak but just a little lighter than chestnut. Since I already opened and tried it, am forced to keep but feel I've been totally misled.
