Q: How much weight can this hold?

I can only say that it holds a metal flag poll and a standard flag. I would not hang from it just to check. It's made to hold a flag.

Q: what is the max diameter for a round anchoring pole?

The listing says 1 inch and that seems to be correct. If you wanted to be safe, you could go with a pole that is 15/16, but it measures as 1 inch. We put this out for the poll workers to post their flag during elections. They haven't had any trouble using it.

Q: Would this work on the legs of a pop up canopy?

Yes, it is adjustable for different sizes and shapes. I have it on the my railing which is a rectangle.. It is very sturdy so if you intend to put it on a pop up tent you need to make sure that the tent is sturdy. Once the flag goes in it becomes even heavier, especially with a standard size flag.

Q: I installed this bracket on my railing today but it didn’t come with a screw to tighten against the flagpole to secure it in the bracket. ???

We thought we were missing a screw but they ended up all being there once we figured the project out. Can you go to a hardware store? It's a screw with a wingnut to tighten the flag so it stays.
