Fast charging and easy to install
I installed this socket in my car, and I was pleasantly surprised by how easy it was. Aside from the necessary tools to cut a hole in my car's plastic console, cut and strip wires, and check to make sure I had it wired correctly, I didn't really need anything but what came in the package (I did use two of my own crimp-on connectors to connect the wires from what had been my 12V "cigarette lighter" power socket to the new USB socket). The blue LED ring on the socket is handy for finding the ports in the dark; the fact that both ports are 2.1 amp ports means that it charges my smartphone quickly; the plastic nut allowed me to tighten the socket and make it nice and snug when I installed it; the rubber cover will probably be nice for covering the socket in case the blue glow becomes a nuisance or distraction at night when the socket isn't in use (and the rubber ring that attaches the cover to the socket doubles as a sort of rubber washer to make the whole assembly feel secure when it's installed and tightened up); if the cover isn't necessary for your application, you can pull it off or even cut it off with a utility blade after it's been installed.

Great product but it is a constant power draw
These are awesome. Work great and look great. But if you are replacing a 12v cigarette lighter with these find out if your outlet is a constant power source. These draw power even if the keys are out of the car. They have a great looking blue led light. However some cars do not have their 12V power source on keyed ignition so they are a constant drain on your battery even when the car is not running.

Just as described; great price; works great
This is a dual USB charger that I wired into the 12v power outlet in the back of my jeep wrangler jk. The wiring that was supplied with the USB charger is a larger diameter than the stock wiring so I had no fear of overload. The supplied wiring also included an inline fuse and ring terminals, plus solderless connectors. Installation & wiring only took a few minutes and it immediately lit up with a blue LED indicator and charged up my video camera batteries in no time!

Works good
I installed 2 of these in my RV to charge cell phones. The install would not be that hard if you are replacing a conventional 12v plug. You will have to enlarge the hole a bit if that is your intention, but for me I had to drill a hole anyway so it was not that big of a deal. This plug does not have a switch so if you don't install a switch (I did) you will have a nice bright blue light on all the time. Both of my plugs are working fine even though I have not had them installed that long. For the money they are good I really hope to get years of service from them.

DIY 5V 2.1V USB Charger. Drill, Install, Wire and Charge.
I got to the point of getting sick of having to carry bulky car chargers and needing more space for GPS to plug in since my vehicle is an old Acura Integra it's a little behind on technology. So I made it up to date. I had got an rectangular USB charger last time but didn't come with wiring wire or nothing. I like that this one did even has the mail and female connectors. I haven't installed this one yet need hole saw bit. But plan on buying least 3 more because I have 3 Integras. Hiding is on side of center console or by the emergency brake. Came with charge plug 40" in of Red & Black positive and negative wire, with fused link, plus Male and Female wire ends, flat and round wire ends attached to wire. 1 installed fuse 1 spare fuse (F10AL250V) Dual USB inlets. Both 5V 2.1A Charger has thread on plastic nut to fasten with a rubber plug that's doubled as a washer on back. See photos attached, will update with Pictures installed. Could have gave ya say 5-6ft wire. For me 40" in is plenty. But depending on vehicle might need a little more in length. Definitely recommend. Will be getting more. TOOLS NEEDED: DRILL Hole saw Bits or regular bits. 1/1/8" Extra Red, Black wire for + & - Wrench's or sockets for ground bolt. Wire cutters Wire ends or plugs. DIY INSTRUCTIONS: (1 of 7 Steps). 1 step determine placement of charge Plug. 2 Drill and push in Plug, thread but on back. Drill 1/1/8" Round hole, possibly use vehicle cigarette lighter location if you don't smoke. 3 Put Red positive wire on charger + PUT Black negative wire on charger - 4 Run the wiring under dash out of foot area and away from pedals. 5 Find a 12V + Switched power source and hook up Red wire. Maybe change wire end to vehicle factory type fuse box plug. 6 Take Black wire and hide as well look for fusebox mounting bolt or but and fasten Ground wire to it. 7 Turn Ignition switch test for power and see if charger charges your devices and or powers them up. Make sure it's wired to switched power other wise may run vehicle battery dead.

Actually outputs 1.45 amps to my phone, according to a USB tester, but I think that is the phones limitation. On the plus side, outputs 5v even with a 24v input which is ideal. Wires were good too.
