Don't be scared by the price - this is a great product.
I do not leave many reviews, and I am very picky about my backpacks. There are too many bags that clearly have been designed by someone who does not actually use backpacks to carry books, papers, or whatever . . . I find that unforgivable. I suspect that this product was designed by someone who shares my frustration since this backpack has details and features that many absurdly expensive backpacks somehow lack. (Double zippers, for example,) Convenience, unexpected details that enhance this product's usefulness, and durable construction all make this a product that does not disappoint. Frankly, even as an ultra-light backpack, I prefer this to some of the heavier - and far more expensive - bags I routinely use. When folded up, this isn't really much of a tote bag. That's really not the point, however: the bag is so compact that throwing this into a piece of luggage to bring on vacation a no brainer. On my last vacation, this bag proved itself to be invaluable as an extra backpack each to take along as a precaution for excursions, for shopping, for short hikes, or for the beach. Because it's so light and compact, bringing it is easy and no big deal if it did not get used. From the first time I used the bag, I was impressed by its solid construction and thoughtful design. Its versatility allowed it to essentially outperform substantially more expensive daypacks I had also brought. The low cost of this bag makes this an outrageously good deal. I am pleased to be able to recommend this product without hesitation. Usually, deals that seem too good to be true ARE. I gambled on bought this bag, and I am very very glad I did so. I look forward to giving this out as stocking-stuffer gifts in December.

5 stars for the pack and customer service
This is an update to my last review. Venture Pal responded immediately with concern about the poor quality of the fuchsia pack. Customer Service is excellent. They stand behind their product. My pack was replaced within a few days. I took the new pack with me for two weeks to Europe. It was used everyday as a day bag and packed full as my carrry on for the plane. This bag holds a lot of stuff. The zippers are easy open easy close. Lots of pockets. My husband took his Venture Pal pack and it continues to hold up without problems. Anyone looking for a light weight pack should give this pack a try. They stand behind their product with great customer service. My original review - The bad: After I packed the pack for the first time, I lifted it with the lift tab at the top and it came detatched from the pack. It must have been barely stitched, because the stitches appeared to be intact. I decided I can live without the little lift thingy. However, when we got to our destination, I noticed the right shoulder was beginning to come loose from the seam. It's an inexpensive bag, but I thought it should last more that a weekend. The good: this little bag holds lots of stuff. The pack is perfect to carry everything I need for a casual 3 day weekend. The zippers work well. It folds up into its own pouch which makes it convent to carry in a suitcase or other bag. Except for the minor defects in mine, it's exactly as described in other reviews. I purchased a black one for my husband and he is very happy. 5 stars for his pack!!! He was also able to pack everything he needed for a casual 3day weekend in his pack. I have returned mine, but am reordering with the hopes the defects in mine were just a fluke.

Durable, light weight, lots of pockets, well designed... love it!
Look, I'm not one to take the time to write reviews. I buy a ton on Amazon and may have left just a couple reviews over the years. ... that being said ... These backpacks deserve to be reviewed. I have a family with 5 Kids. We needed a compact, and light weight option for excursions on a Cruise we were talking. I bought all 7 of us these packs... and they were perfect. Fit compact into our luggage and then were big enough for 'stuff' we purchased along our excursions along with lots of pockets (zippers pockets inside zipper pockets for securing more valuable items). With 2 side mesh pockets for water bottles, and 2 pockets on the inside of the large compartment, and 2 outsize zipped pockets (one that has another zipped pocket inside it)... there was SPACE galore for a lunch, a hat, water bottles, personal items, portable chargers, and then some. This most recent purchase (in June 2019) , I bought 3 more. The newest version of these backpacks fixed the single issue we had with the previous version. The main outside zippers were previously covered with a flap that would often get zipped into the zipper and was annoying. THEY FIXED THIS ISSUE with the newest version, and made the material more stout as well. BONUS! I now use my new one... every where I go. It's like my 'Man Purse' lol. As silly as that may sound... and I am slightly embarrassed to admit it. It''s been nice to have. Easy to access my wallet from a secure pocket, easy to store a tablet or 2 inside. Easy to store my water bottle(s), even a laptop at times... even to sneak a treat into the theater, or not... cause who does that? Not me. Highly recommended.

Tried and true backpack for travel and hiking
I bought this backpack to take on a cruise in 2022. Since then, I've started using it for hiking as well as it holds everything I need for a day hike and it's water resistant and not nearly as heavy as my daypack. I'm not sure it holds 35L, but it holds what I need. I've been taking it on flights as well as my "under the seat" personal item. It fits under the seat nicely, although I never have it stuffed full - usually my purse and camera. I've carried my DSLR and a zoom lens in there, which are kind of heavy, and I've never had any issues with straps tearing. I do agree that it would nice if the straps were a bit padded because it's not comfortable with a heavy load, however, I doubt that it would be foldable and that is a nice feature to have. It started out as my travel backpack and now it's my for everything backpack. I've used it a lot over the last three years and I highly recommend it. FYI...I don't do reviews as soon as I receive an item - I try them out first. This is a keeper.

Lightweight, packs up small into a neat package, lots of pockets and well organized!!
Venture Pal Ultralight Lightweight Packable Foldable Travel Camping Hiking Outdoor Sports Backpack Daypack (Orange) So I bought this for a cruise to the Caribbean and didn't want a pack that was going to take up a lot of space in my luggage, but wanted something small to carry in case I bought something, needed a jacket, towel, bottles of water (or beer) and this fit the bill. SO, for my basic needs, this perfectly fit the bill. Now I do a lot of long distance hiking and camping, and you WILL NOT be happy if that is what you are trying to do with this. It doesn't have much in the way of back support, you really can't pack a weekends worth of hiking gear and sleeping stuff into this pack. While it does have nice shoulder straps with a clip/webbing to hold the straps together across your chest, it is too light and flexible to really stand up the packing a lot of stuff and supporting it and supporting the load while hiking a long distance. But if you were doing that, you would have packed your bag at home, picked a sturdier backpack with supports and you couldn't fold it up and take it with you in a package about the size of 2 paperback books. On the other hand, if you are looking for a daypack that compacts down nicely into a small package and use it when you get to your destination, I haven't seen a better option. It will carry a lot of stuff and is pretty durable as a daypack. It isn't waterproof, and its only slightly water resistant. If you are in a downpour, some of your stuff will get soaked, but that happens in "regular" backpacks all the time also. The bright orange color was great for us because when we went swimming or wanted to see it, it was very visible and I felt if someone were going to try to take off with it, they wouldn't get far without someone noticing. The material is a light nylon, probably not very durable if you drag it along the ground or catch it on stuff, but sturdy enough if you are just walking and carrying "soft good". I think a sharp item would punch through this eventually, and you probably can't carry a case of glass bottles, but I had probably 20 lbs of "soft goods" in there and it worked just fine. So take it for what it is and for about twenty something dollars it served its purpose. Email me with questions. I didn't get a discount and wasn't asked to do a favorable review, but thought I would give some insight for a good product. All in all a good purchase and it served it purpose and I will take it on vacation with us wherever we go. If you've got questions We went on a cruise and I fit 6 towels for the beach, 4 cans of Angry Orchard, plus my Cruise ID and my cell phone, and other stuff, sunscreen, lip gloss, contact lens solution, brush, hair stuff for my wife, and there were lots of little places we could have put other things, but just didn't utilize. It kept everything nicely organized.

Light, compact, comfortable backpack!
This backpack got me through a fairly intense hiking around Phoenix, AZ. I carried it on my back for about 12 hours one day, and I have to say it was pretty darn comfortable. Carried like 5 powerade bottles, a spare water bottle, a camera, pants, and a hoodie, with plenty of room to spare. I probably would've been weighed down before it got overburdened. It has a pretty thin profile too, which was helpful when my back was against a steep wall. I liked the mesh pockets on either side; I just kept switching out powerade bottles. The backpack felt really secure with the check strap buckled. It never really got in my way or felt loose other than when I had my body tilted at an angle and it started to slide, but even then it only budged a bit and didn't change my weight too much. The fact that it easily folds up into its own pocket was very useful, as I only took a "personal item" sized bag with me on this trip and it didn't take up much room within. There are a few tears that did develop at the bottom due to the real rough ordeal I put it through, so we'll see how that lifetime warranty is. I'll probably update and add or subtract a star based on how that's handled. Overall I'm pretty happy with this thing though! Update: The company promptly responded to my inquiry about the lifetime warranty and I was able to order a free replacement. It should be here in a couple days and I foresee no issues with it so I'm bumping my rating up to 5 stars for the service. I'll of course update if anything goes amiss.

This is a great buy!
I have a bigger version of this backpack that I use more, but I like this one as well. It’s a strong, well-made backpack that really comes in handy for trips. Sometimes I travel with a tote bag or a regular backpack. I like to take the foldable backpack as well because sometimes I get tired holding up my tote bag on one shoulder when this backpack easily uses two shoulders and is waterproof for those unexpected European showers. Many pockets inside. Two side pockets for water bottles or an umbrella. Straps that tighten and buckle them in securely. This is wonderfully lightweight and a good deal.

A light-duty backpack 🎒
I just used this backpack as my sole packing device, over the 3-day 2023 Xmas weekend. This 35-liter backpack was a bit snug, but it was tolerable. 40 liters would have worked better. I have three issues with this backpack: 1. The backpack color received was nowhere close to what I ordered. The color shading was way off from what was posted on Amazon. This was disappointing. 2. The backpack material is very lightweight and I question the longterm durability. This unit is rather inexpensive for a reason. Material cheapness is the main factor. 3. There are two open side-pockets inside the main compartment. It would have been nice to have at least one zippered side-pocket. I'm not a fan of the two open pockets. One would have sufficed, with the 2nd being zippered. If you're wanting an inexpensive light-duty daypack, you might find this backpack sufficient. For a few bucks more, you can find a far superior backpack, instead of this one. I returned this off-colored backpack immediately after the 3-day stint and purchased a 40-liter backpack from a different brand. This other brand's backpack cost was negligibly more, and it was far superior to this light-duty one. GRADE: C-
