Rotten egg smell is gone
Installation was easy once I got the old rod out, and rotten egg smell is gone. This replaced a 27" magnesium rod in an AO Smith 40 gallon tank. I did cut off the last section as it looked like it would have been laying on the bottom of the tank. I had to temporarily remove a shelf above the water heater but only because of getting the old rod out.

Water Connection, Aluminum Zinc Anode Rod for Hot Water Heater, Flexible Aluminum Anode Rod
It has been installed. It got rid of the egg smell in my hot water in 1 day. Now my water is good again. I am so happy. It was also good that I was alerted that if I had a Gas hot water heater, that I should use this aluminum type Anode. Being segmented made it easy to install in the limited space I have. I am very happy with it and with the price I paid.

Worked like a Champ
I live in Florida, and I am on a well. We have problems with sulfur that causes a horrible rotten egg smell. It has gotten worse since Hurricane Iris. This sulfur produces Sulfur bacteria in your water heater and your anode rod become saturated with this bacteria, and the smell is horrible. Here is what I did to resolve the problem. I had a professional company come in and install a new water softener and a system that removes the sulfur before it enters the home. A sulfur block. 1. I drained my water heater 2. Removed the old anode rod. It was a horrible mess. See picture below. The water heater is only 5 months old. 3. I poured 3% hydrogen peroxide in the water heater tank. 1 qt. Per 10 gals of heater size 4. Installed this new anode rod. 5. Opened. Hot water faucet near the tank to remove air from tank while filling. 6. Turned water to tank back on and filled tank. 7. I let tank sit for 3 hours and let the peroxide work killing all the bacteria. 8. I then opened all the hot water faucets in my home to allow peroxide to sanitize the lines. 9. Turned the power back on to water heater. It has been two weeks now and the hot water is still odor free. (I used an impacted wrench to remove old anode rod.)

Hot water smell was gone for awhile
We moved into a house with a new Rheem water heater and had sulfur smell in the hot water. Cold was okay. I replaced its anode (manganese?) with the alum/zinc flexible and the smell is gone. Removing the existing anode was a real bearcat. My ratchet set and breaker bar were not up to the task. Thankfully the neighbor has an industrial sized set. I cranked while he hugged the tank, keeping it from rotating. Update: The egg smell returned after three weeks of the anode replacement. Maybe because the Clorox I added wore off. I then installed a 2510SXT Silver air injection unit. It removed the smell and cleared up the toilet water. After two weeks it is still doing so.

Just as expected
Product just as described. Bought it to see if it might decrease some sulfur odors. Seems to be significantly better so far.

We have hard water and the rotten egg smell coming from the hot water tank was really bad, I suspected it was the rod after some research. Came across this rod and figured to give it a try. After finding a large tire bar to fit the hex nut on the top of the rod 1/1/16 size. I was able to take the old rod out and install this new Aluminum zinc. After draining the tank the smell started to go away, it took about a day and the smell was about 80% gone. Before having this rod the smell was extremity bad, but now theirs only a slit odor, It's totally manageable now, wow should have done this years ago. Thanks

I had the typical hot (and only hot) water rotten egg smell that many well-owners complain about. Many times, as was the case for me, the anode rod in the boiler had corroded and couldn't perform anymore, or, if it was the original rod and was made of magnesium, or just aluminum, it wasn't able to handle hard water very well and also couldn't control the formation of H2S gas, which causes the bad smell in the first place. So this aluminum-zinc rod was perfect to combat this situation. Mind you, it has to have zinc in it, otherwise it won't solve your problem. The nice thing about this rod is that it's partitioned, so you can easily fit it into your boiler. If your boiler is more than half the height to your ceiling, you're going to have a difficult time with a non-partitioned rod, because it will most likely hit the ceiling before you can insert it into the boiler. This makes taking the old rod out of the boiler difficult as well, so you may have to cut it with a metal saw. After I replaced the old rod with this one, the infamous rotten smell was gone in literally a day and hasn't returned since I installed it (eight months). An easy fix to a nasty problem.

After a few weeks with the new anode there seems to be an improvement in the odour of our water. It used to have a strong sulfur smell and now our water has very little odour. The decrease in smell took at least a week after the change of the anode. Overall it has helped.

Not too expansive. I installed a powerful water filter, but my hot water still smelled like rotten eggs ew! Changed the rod from my water heater and the next day the odors were gone!!!
