Amazing Dye!
Amazing dye! Color durability, and color quality is amazing. I recommend boiling the garment you’re going to use with this dye for longer than recommended on package, but it will work great on any polyester or synthetic fabric.

Perfect dye for a Spec Ops break out bag!
Recently, the Army published a few changes to our uniform policy (AR 670-1). The new regulation states that Soldiers may only carry backpacks over the shoulder than are black, or that match the worn uniform (ACU pattern, multicam, etc). I have an OD green backpack that I have carried for 14 years. I have deployed to Iraq with it, and taken it everywhere. It bears the patches and name tapes that reflect my service and skills, and I am very sentimentally attached to it. I hope to pass it on to my eldest son when he is old enough, and when I'm retired. But, sadly, I cannot carry a green backpack anymore, and I just don't want to buy another one. So, with high hopes, I bought a pack of iDye Poly Fabric Dye. It was a bit of a challenge finding a large stock pot big enough to fit the backpack in, but my wife let me use our big spaghetti pot for the job. My German stove wasn't quite able to get the water to a rolling boil as the directions state...it seems the dye and color intensifier raises the boiling point of the water. But I kept it hot, and soaked the backpack in the water for a full hour, agitating it the whole time with some wooden spoons and keeping the backpack completely submerged the whole time. The backpack is 100% cordura nylon, covered with loop fasteners for attaching gear, and has big heavy zippers with para-cord drawstrings, heavy compression straps, and a synthetic lining. I fully expected to find that the dye would have been absorbed at different rates by all the different thicknesses and compositions of material. I figured that the part of the bag that was near the bottom of the thin stainless steel pot would be darker than the parts that were near the surface of the water. However, I was THRILLED to find that the ENTIRE bag is a very uniform, very dark shade of black, and is now totally in compliance with the new regulation. I cannot tell you how happy I am to be able to keep using my old bag! I rinsed it with a hose outside, and then gave it a few soaks in the kitchen sink, with only a slight darkening of the water. I am now giving it a gentle wash with color safe baby detergent, and I'll see how well the color holds without bleeding, but so far, it looks like I will be able to feel totally confident with it slung over my back, rain or shine, without worrying that it will leave any stains on my uniform. I can't praise this product enough. While my opinions are my own, and do not reflect the opinions of the US Army, I hope that any other service members out there that find themselves in my position will look no further than this product. It is 100% exactly what I needed, and it does the job perfectly! Thank you SO MUCH for this wonderful, (and inexpensive) product! It even arrived in record time to my CMR address. Five stars!

awful color and made me very sick!
if i could give this product 0 stars i would. this was not my first time using a dye like this, but it was my first time with this brand and i will never use it again. i followed the simple directions perfectly and my supposed to be pink fabric came out purple and very splotchy. my fabric was white to begin with and i only left it soaking for 45 minutes. that really isn’t my biggest concern though. the SMELL was absolutely the worst part. the other reviews on are are not exaggerating at all. i am usually not bad when it comes to strong odors, but i think i may have had an extreme sensitivity to this one. although i was in a well ventilated room with windows open and fans on, almost instantly after the steam started i got a terrible migraine and felt extremely light headed. i tried getting fresh air outside and drinking water and taking medicine to try and calm it down but it would not go away. i needed my boyfriend to finish the soaking process and clean up for me because i could not be in the room any longer. i’m not trying to sound dramatic but it really was horrible. i even ended up vomiting several time. it is about three hours later now and i am still feeling very dizzy and nauseous while writing this. i’m sure this isn’t common for most buyers because not a whole lot of reviews say it was this bad for them, but just be extra extra careful when using this product, and i defiantly would not purchase it if you have even the slightest sensitivity to this type of stuff. i will NOT be purchasing this again.

Excellent results with stovetop method
I recently bought a pair of pure white, full seat riding breeches on eBay that were badly misrepresented. The seat was ruined and they were not usable. I happened to have another pair of breeches that I didn't like but had a perfectly usable seat, so to try and save the eBay breeches from going in the trash, I decided I'd try and put a new seat on them and dye them a color to match the replacement seat. (Note: I dyed the breeches first and then replaced the seat material, so the seat material you see in the finished photo is not dyed with idye) This was my first attempt ever at dyeing anything but I figure the breeches were headed for the trash anyway, if I messed them up, there was no loss. The fabric content on the breeches (see photo of pre-dyed, white tag on the breeches) was a mix of cotton, poly and spandex so I bought matching idye color packets in idye for cotton and idye for poly fabrics, as well as a packet of idye color fixative and did the stove top method. The cooking color was very dark but they lightened up after rinsing and drying (which I was glad about). Also, because of the spandex content, I decided to keep the dye pot "almost boiling" but not bring it to a full boil like the instructions suggest. I cooked for about 1/2 hour (instructions recommend 1/2 to 1 hour). As you can see from the photos, the results were dramatic! I now have a perfectly beautiful pair of riding breeches and there is one less clothing item in a land fill! Yay! The idye packets also say it's safe for my septic system - another big plus. I can't speak for color fastness yet as I've only washed them twice since dyeing them but I do love the color I used (gunmetal, which has a blue base and turned out a deep navy for my difficult to dye fabric). In fact, I love the results so much, I definitely plan on using this method again for future breeches! So happy with idye and highly recommend it.

Arrived on time, and worked great. This dye is very green though and it wasn't a really flattering colour for a shirt. I had used two older white shirts of my husbands and used this to dye green for a wedding. I doubt he will wear the shirts again, but to no fault of the product. If you are dyeing clothes, just realize that this colour is verrrrrry green.
