Old fashioned bed pan. Better than a diaper if the person can lift themselves on it. We used a bead of mineral oil to assist in the slide. Not too much or your butt slides in or off too quick. Sturdy and can be sterilized.

Its frustrating trying to find high quality material that you would expect out of medical style items. This does not feel as thick/firm as bed pans I have seen in hospitals before. It feels solid for the most pack but when sitting on it it feels like there is a slight movement/give/bend. I sat on it to test how comfortable it would feel. Its not for me but for my disabled teen twins. Their disability has basically stripped their mobility over time, so now they are wheelchair bound and slowly they could probably lose how much control they will have from making it from their room all the way to a bedside commode near my work area, so I can make sure they get on and off of it safely. For them, since they dont weigh as much or not as large as an adult, I doubt it will feel the same. They havent used it yet, or have no become comfortable with the idea of using it. Their understanding of things mentally is very different and its hard to get them to understand certain things at times. I mainly want to use it during emergencies if we are out at a doctors appointment. We are in the process of getting an older large wheelchair van so hoping to pack this with us because ever since they were little they refuse to use a public bathroom. They never feel comfortable enough to go, so want to have this on hand for the doctor/therapy visits that are on the other side of the city from home. If they can use it while in the van, somewhere they may feel more comfortable and secure in, then it might come in handy. Or if we decide to drive up North to visit family then bathroom breaks would be far easier on the go.

I liked the bedpan because it is metal. I had problems trying to get it under my husband. I actually needed an extra person to position him on the bedpan

Noticed the sharp cracked metal immediately after opening, rubbed finger across it, caught my skin. I am an RN, and if this was placed/slid under buttocks skin, absolutely certain it would cut the skin. I cannot return it, I need it now. Will tape spot, and will be using garbage bags slid over pan. Just wanted to let you folks know about this.
