Didn’t even last the first ice cube… broke first use. Avoid.

It arrived well over a week late invoice said $7.00 paid £20 so will over priced. The ice tapper look very flimsy in construction. Probably better using a rolling pin and tea towel or Lewis bag and mallet. At a push back if an old bar spoon. Could not recommend the product or seller at all

Vou ser sincero, comprei por ser um objeto "vintage" mas, par aa minha surpresa, funciona muito bem e é bemlegal de usar! Sem contar a festa que fiz mostrando para os amigos como quebrar gelo! Vale a compra!

After a few uses one of the metal pieces flew right off. Surprised it lasted even as long as it did once I could see how it was assembled. There's virtually no surface area for the glue to hold onto, as it's only a curved piece of sheet metal glued down along the thin edge. A thicker gauge sheet metal could be enough to solve it, as both pieces are noticably dented and flattened. So it would be stronger and have more surface for the glue to hold. Or make a solid piece held in by a few screws around the outside. One review on here complained about the handle being plastic and not steel, but it should be floppy like it is so you can get a good thwack. Though the tapper should be strong enough to handle what it's dishing out. I bought it at a sale price so it's not a big deal to me, but I would NOT pay 8 dollars for this.

Like warning in many of the other reviews, this ice cracker works well, using the principle of sending a shock vibration through the ice, cracking it (it's NOT a hammer, cracking it with brute force). My father had one of these in the 1960s and I loved using it, but I suspect the metal disk on his was a solid piece of metal, lending extra weight and reliability to the tool. This one, on the other hand, has two convex thin metal disks, one on each side, and is hollow in the center. The disks are held in place with glue. and after a few taps, one or other of the disks comes off and goes flying. The disks can easily be snapped back into place, but it will simply happen again after a a few taps. I'm going to try to glue them back into place with epoxy, and we'll see how well that holds. If it doesn't work, I'll throw it out; it's not worth returning for a replacement.
