How are these speakers powered? Do they each need to be plugged into a 110v outlet?

One of the speakers needs to be plugged into an outlet. That speaker is powered and has a built-in amplifier to drive the speakers. No need for a receiver or amplifier. Just plug directly into your source.

How do these compare to the r1280t? Are they the same, just with extra bluetooth connection, or is the sound quality different?

I've been trying to get a straight answer about this from Edifier for a week, to no avail. The response here from Edifier Online Store clearly says "they are the same" except for the connectivity options, but when I added my own question asking about the sound quality, Edifier only said "they're different speakers" -- then deleted their own answer after I politely replied that they'd said otherwise here and asked them to clarify. They also ignored my support ticket on their website asking about this topic. Either the specs are wrong or Edifier doesn't know their product very well, and it seems they won't give a straight answer about it. It would be a better business move to just own up to the mistake and correct it. It's difficult to trust a company with your hard-earned money when they behave this way.

So if I connect with Bluetooth, audio will come from both speakers?

Speakers don’t hold memory of devices. Devices remember the Bluetooth they’re connecting to. This question is backwards and not how Bluetooth works.
