I bought this (and a 940nm and UV torch) to test a digital camera I was modifying to see UV + IR light. The LED light shows a dim red, but my IR modified camera sees it like bright daylight! It's quite addictive shining this "invisible" light around the garden at night, viewing through an IR capable camera, and seeing a ton of things you never normally see. Like 40+ slugs/snails slithering around after several wet weeks. Yuck, but it's nature and I'd never having known those silent slimeys were out there! Plenty of moths caught fluttering about and even a bat which scared the living daylights out of me. Didn't see that coming. Well - I did - in the dark of night! I've no purpose for this other than "entertainment". It's solid/metal, the IR has a good "throw" and covers a broad area. Obviously you need a camera/camcorder that can see IR light and convert it to something you can see. A normal camera will have filters to block out IR else your photos would look red ruddy hell. Dont buy this expecting to see IR - you can't. You need IR sensitive camera film or a digital camera tweaked to allow IR into the sensor. For the reasonable price for such a niche item and the fun factor I've had I'm giving it 5.

Tested with my phone camera and the results were very poor. I had to stand really close to objects to see any illumination. I then tried with an Axis CCTV camera and the resulults were amazing. It lit the room up just like a normal tourch would. Very impressed

Good range and nice zoom feature. Houses at the start of video were around 135 meters away from camera. Houses in the distance at the end of the video were over 200 meters away lit up using narrow beam. I was using a 13 year old DSLR that had been modified to allow infrared sensitivity. I was using an 18650 battery in the tube that came with the torch. I haven't used 3 AAA batteries to power it yet. On the wide zoom setting pointing at the ceiling it will light up a room with infrared. It seems well built but due to the power and small size it does get warm during use.

Item is a fake. And doesnt work. Doesnt even come in the box, battery missing. Part I included doesnt even fit the torch. Doesnt even work. Very disappointed

Unfortunately it wasn't as good as some of the reviews made out. The brightness wasn't great and wouldn't light up clearly anything more than a couple or three metres away. I guess you get what you pay for so I shouldn't complain. For me however, and for what I need it for this item does not suffice.

I use this to play my oculus two with the lights off. It works really well when you shine up towards the ceiling. It's been dropped a lot of times and still working. ONE thing to note, it churns through batteries like you wouldn't believe.

Used this to supplement an fpv camera that I had removed the ir filter from. Through the modified camera the light is about as bright as a visible-spectrum flashlight, maybe a bit brighter. Seems to work fine for my purposes.

Paired this up with the NightShot Night Vision Rifle Scope with IR850-NS Illuminator and Holy Cow! Houses 175-200 yards away (Adobe construction) were Whited Out! Great IR Light. Excellent Price. Just add batteries and BAM! You've got IR illumination! It will be mounted on a 9mm carbine platform with the NightShot Scope and I will submit another Review after extensive testing. So far I am extremely pleased with this unit. Does exactly what they say it will do and more. I live in the high desert out in the middle of no where and there is no ambient light other than stars and moon light. This thing lite it all up like daytime! I used it and made Shadows behind trees across a canyon 450 yards away! Look for updated review after Xmas

Tested with: Raspberry Pi Camera v3 NOIR I tested this UltraFire IR Torch with a Raspberry Pi Camera v3 NOIR (without an IR filter), and I have to say – for the price, it works surprisingly well. The infrared illumination is strong and consistent, and the adjustable focus is smooth and practical. It lives up to everything stated in the product description. A big plus is that it fits a longer 18650 battery (71mm) with a built-in charging port, which adds extra convenience. I'm deducting one star due to a couple of minor issues. The LED is visibly off-center – it doesn’t affect performance, but it's noticeable and detracts from the overall appearance. Additionally, there were some small particles or debris around the LED right out of the box. Not food crumbs or anything, just tiny specs of material, but it feels like a small lapse in quality control. Overall, a solid IR torch with excellent value for money – just a few small cosmetic flaws.
