YES, YES, YES IT WORKS!
YES IT WORKS PERFECTLY! I have always had problems with things that have to cook on the stove a long time getting scorched, even putting it on the tiny burner and removing the lid and stirring every 5 minutes, which is tough when it has to cook 4 or 5 hours, and most of the time it still scorched. I just used this diffuser on a big pot of Italian Sunday gravy - and it worked perfectly! I followed the directions on the package exactly - Got the food prepared and boiling on another regular sized burner, then put this diffuser on that tiny smallest burner, moved the pot over to it, and then turned it on to low and it continued slow boiling for hours without scorching. Of course you still have to stir, but only a normal amount, maybe every 20 minutes or so depending on what you are cooking. I have always moved the pot to the tiny burner in the past but it always still scorched. But now with this diffuser, a 4-5 hour slow boil of Italian gravy with no scorching! Wish I had known these things existed years ago!

For even heat, can't beat it.
We use on a gas range. The dispersants of heat were very good. The functionality of the diffuser is as we hoped.

Two ""Simmer Mats"
These simmer mats are wonderful. I cook on a fine gas range and love it. Every time I cook stews, chili, sauces, etc. They would stick to the bottom of my saucepan and scorch. A sweet little lady from Alaska recommended the simmer mat. Honestly, I didn't think it would work. But, when I cooked a stew a few days after receiving my first simmer mat, I found out for myself. When I normally reduce the heat to simmer, I slid the simmer mat under my saucepan and let it simmer over an hour. There was absolutely no scorching in the bottom. They are a great value for the $$ i paid.

Not that big
They are great for medium or small burners, but not large. My stove has 2 super big burners. I thought they would be thicker and heavier/more dense like cast iron, but they are definitely not. They are thin. They work well though. I kept scalding milk, burning chili, etc even on the lowest setting of my biggest gas burners, and now I'm fine. I was going to order 2 more, but I've decided to get larger ones. I totally want a diffuser for each of my 4 burners tho and maybe my long center one!

USED FOR SIMMER ONLY
My gas range has large burner heads. They heat the outer edge of pots and pans much more than the center portions. Cooking requires frequent stirring to evenly heat food. Anything that splashes above the surface gets burned onto the inside of the pot. I was hoped that this would fix that problem. When I ordered this mat I didn't understand how it worked, my fault. This does work for simmering only. First you heat your food to a simmer then you place the mat under the pot. I turn the burner off for a moment to keep from being burned, then you turn the burner on a low heat to bring it back to simmer for as long as you need. The mat is not designed for high heat. Do not put your burner on high while using this mat, it may cause it to warp or worse. If you are like me and want something to evenly distribute the heat, even while the burner is on high, you need to buy a different product. Note: I have Revere Ware with copper bottoms to distribute the heat evenly. My burners still heat the outer edges of the pots first. It then becomes difficult to remove the food that is burned onto the inside of the pot. I don't have a recommendation yet for a heat disburser that will work. If you have a recommendation, please leave it on this review. Thanks.

Works well on gas stove
I have a new gas stove that runs very hot. After several adjustments it still doesn't simmer but keeps boiling. That plate works very well. That's the 2nd one I am buying in two weeks.

It really works, it's great
I just used this summer mat. I made a large pot of tomato sauce with meatballs. Great no scorching on the bottom of my pot. Always, every time I use this pot, even with a low flame, I get meat scorched on the bottom. My pot came out clean nothing got burnt. I will use this mat, every time I use this pot for making my sauce.

Not a substantial design
The heat diffuser looks like it is a heavier metal, like cast iron. It is not, it is a pressed sheet of metal. This is ONLY for low heat use. Do not use on a higher heat stove setting.

Best kitchen gadget I've bought in a long time. Now indispensable. No more burnt pans; & soups/ stews etc simmer gently while I wash up/ read a book. Saves all that lingering over a hot stove, adjusting the flame, scraping the bottom of the pan...Great price too, and easy to keep pristine.

I bought this simmer ring because I have trouble when trying to simmer a stew or soup, I saw this product and thought I would give a go. I am amazed at the difference it makes, and while I'm not sure that my stew simmered that much slower, it certainly seems to distribute the flame of gas more evenly, and I don't have the stew sticking to bottom of the pot like before. I have used it on my gas cooktop and also the wood stove, works great on both. Do read the instructions because it needs to placed on different sides depending on the surface you are cooking with. I do not hesitate in recommending this product. Definitely 5 stars :)
