Yup...These are the Honda Civic of Grappling Shorts.
So after reading many comments, reviews, etc. from reddit I decided to grab a pair of these shorts for nogi BJJ and I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. They are just really tough, well made, simple athletic shorts but with small details that make you go hmmm. The fabric is very high quality and you can tell it will stand the test of time on the mats for sure. It may not be like some of the super lightweight stretch material being used these days but I'm 100% OK with it because the fabric is still comfortable despite feeling pretty heavy duty. The inside of the waistband does have some sort of rubber inner lining/material to keep the shorts in place and/or your rash guard tucked in as you move around which is a nice touch. The shorts really check all the boxes as far as grappling shorts go as well - no pockets, no velcro (my preference), internal drawstring, super simple look and design, etc. The price is pretty fair for what you're getting unless you absolutely had your heart set on a pair of grappling shorts with a skeleton dressed in Samurai gear riding a tiger into battle against a bunch of panda bears dressed as ninjas with the matching glow in the dark rash guard...then this may not be for you.

These shorts carried me
The best rugby shorts ever. These are by far the best rugby shorts. They’re comfortable, fit well and they hold up. I tore my ACL and was carried off the field, and later to a car by these shorts. I weigh 180lbs. The whole time I was being carried they didn’t budge. These rugby shorts are worth it!

Quality seems solid; Size Small was a pinch too tight on my 11yr husky boy.
These have nice, grippy silicone(?) sections around the inner waist which help to keep your shirt tucked in. And there's an internal tiny pocket for something like a key fob or some coins. Some people like their Rugby shorts really high and tight. These would probably be fine for most of those people. My son is about 5'1", 139lbs they were a bit too tight or restrictive for his comfort level. Given that we're coming into rugby season, sizing selections were limited. They didn't have a size Medium from this brand, so I ended up also purchasing a size Medium in the Gilbert Kiwi Pro Rugby Short (B00D6JQGMS) and he liked the fit of those better. I suspect if there was a Medium available in this brand, it would've also been acceptable. Unfortunately, I didn't see any sizing charts on this Canterbury brand nor the Gilbert brand. So you kinda have to buy multiple to find the best fit and plan on sending the others back. I'm giving these 5-stars because the sizing isn't their issue. There doesn't appear to be any glaring concerns with these shorts.

Durable and not flexible.
Rubber waistband is great. Material does not stretch as rugby shorts shouldn't. Durable and quality. No pockets except small inside waistband.

Great quality and value—almost perfect.
These are extremely durable, comfortable shorts. I wear these primarily for no-gi Brazilian jiu-jitsu (BJJ) and am very pleased with their performance overall. BJJ-oriented brands commonly offer lower quality shorts at nearly double the price. There are just a couple of things I would love to see improved: - The black shorts appear to be very dark blue. If you wear them with anything else that's actually black, the contrast can be pretty obvious. - The "legs" could be slightly stretchier to enable greater mobility. There is an elastic panel in the crotch area, and the leg openings are generously sized, but additional elastic panels on the fronts/sides of the legs would be nice.

Blood stains are for life. (Buy the black/navy)
Solid reputation as a brand. They’re comfortable and tough enough for their purpose and will last forever!! If you want a pair of shorts that will wash back to white these are not the ones, I washed and wore them to practice 3 times before they reverted to grey and the blood/ grass stains have been treated with everything the target laundry section has to offer with no success. They do look sharp for pictures though!

A little tight
A little tighter and thicker than the pair I got in 2008. Consider buying a size up if you are boardline on size.

They were delivered as they look. However after first wash they turned gray!

They are exactly the type of shorts I was looking for. Generously large on the legs and fit on the waste.

These are great training shorts. The material is elastic and stretchy on your legs so they move with you as your running and moving. Inside the waist, there is an additional non-slip material that ensure they fit comfortably and don't move around. Great for the gym for work outs or if your out and above running

Es de tela muy fuerte, a prueba de tirones. Personalmente me hubiera gustado más una goma menos fuerte, se hace aparatosa.
