Harry and the Guinea Pig

If you want a sweet story to read to your Grandchildren "This is it !" . But actually I got asked to bring a book to my Granddaughters School to read out loud to the class. So I picked this one, and WOW the response was Wonderful, they loved it! You won't be disappointed in purchasing it.

As a pre-k teacher and have read the Harry the dirty dog books with my class for years. These stories are easy for young children to enjoy. This was a nice addition to my collection and the price point (for a hardcover) was great.

I have to read Harry the Dirty Dog every night. It is nice to have a new one compared to the old one we wore out.

I have a private tutoring business and have books that children check out to read. One of my students loved the Harry the Dirty Dog books & I did not have this one so I added it to my collection.

Cute book. Good story line. Good quality. Grandson really likes the Harry books.

Who doesn’t love Harry? You know that white dog with black spots who lives with his family. In this story, the guinea pig who lives in the neighborhood comes over to visit and Harry gets jealous. The guinea pig is getting all the attention and treats from his family, and Harry is not liking that. Harry decides that he will try to be like a guinea pig so he can get in on the action. Ha! Oh Harry, you’re a dog and not a guinea pig! Harry tries to act and look like the guinea pig, but his family doesn’t notice. The guinea pig is even going to show-and-tell at school. Now, Harry has to share that time too! Harry thinks he has a way to solve this issue but instead he causes a bigger problem. A problem that Harry (because he is a dog) can solve and come out looking like a hero! This is a great story that has some great key points in it. The issue of jealousy and sharing are brought up in the story. You can also talk about how they could have included Harry when they were playing with the guinea pig so Harry would not have felt excluded. The idea of playing together or setting time apart to play separately could be addressed as that would have helped Harry feel better and not so jealous. I like the illustrations in these books are they are bold yet not playing with a lot of colors. Great book!

I first bought Harry the dirty dog for my granddaughter to boost her reading confidence and since then we have both fallen in love with this great little character. Now she's 8 and a fabulous reader this purchase is for a bit of fun only.
