Easy to use and clean. Although a little noisy, it takes no time to grind coffee beans both coarse and fine grinds are excellent. The coffee is hot and flavoursome. I would recommend that, as with all new machines a first run or two is without coffee to thoroughly clean all parts of the internal workings. The coffee stays warm for over 30 minutes on the hot plate as well. So far I haven’t used the programmable functionality yet but programming instructions are easy to follow so I will soon. A gateway machine for anyone wanting to try a bean to jug machine. Great value for money. I would highly recommend it for coffee lovers on a tight budget.

Do not purchase this machine unless you are prepared to also purchase additional paper coffee filters or a compatible reusable filter basket. The machine is badly designed with regard to the so called reusable filter which has no bottom to it, therefore, when you put your pre ground coffee into the brewing chamble as per instructions, there is nothing stopping the coffee grinds streaming into the carafe and consequentially you end up with a thick layer of coffee grinds in your cup or mug. I found 2 phone numbers to contact the manufacturers, both of which state " no longer in use " , the only way to contact Salters is either via e-mail or live chat option on Salters website, I opted for the live chat and spent 40 minutes talking with the call handler who obviously had no idea of what they were talking about, I was told at first to return the machine as it was faulty, later on the call handler said there was a missing part, later the call handler said they couldn't send me a replacement filter as they didn't have any, then told me again to return the machine to Amazon.

Perfect coffee every time. Yes as others had mentioned it is a bit loud when grinding whole beans, but come on folks what do you expect from a small machine. I love my coffee and now can have fresh coffee whenever I want. I highly recommend this for a small home machine

I liked the fact that it can grind beans which was instrumental in my choice to purchase. It's also a nice size for one person as it gives me one large cup in the morning and fills my 500ml flask to take to work. The keep warm function is also handy, although I'd like it to keep the carafe warm for a little longer. At the time, I also liked the reusable mesh filter which does a reasonable job at making the coffee smooth. Sometimes with such filters, you get a grittiness at the end of your brew. There is some with this machine, bit it's more than acceptable. So why is it 'meh'? 1) It's a pig to clean. The mesh is double walled and you get the remnants of coffee grinds between the two. Any amount of rinsing and scrubbing with a brush will not remove all of it. It's also not dishwasher safe - both the plastic and glass parts 2) It could do with a slight redesign to allow paper fillers to be used. This could be achieved by simply having a removable grinding blade. 3) It's woeful at grinding beans. I always select fine grind and never overload it with beans. However, there are always entire beans left over, where the grind never got to them. It's so wasteful. 4) You can't remove the carafe without a splash of coffee spilling into the hot plate. This happens with a sizzle and the burning on of coffee to the hot plate. This can be mitigated slightly by removing the plastic internals before the carafe, but it doesn't always eliminate drips of water sizzling into the hotplate instead. When I've used all of my coffee beans, I'll give ground coffee a go, although if it works better, I may end up buying a coffee grinder as I prefer the freshness that you can only get doing it this way.

I love the fact this is a compact machine and the jug is small, perfect for me as I'm mostly the only one that drinks coffee in my household. It's easy to fill and empty and the coffee is nice and hot. It does say the green light should turn blue when the coffee is ready and other reviews say it's ready in 3 or 4 minutes. Mine was still green after 14 minutes so assuming this function isn't working. Now I just ignore that, wait about 5 minutes and enjoy a nice, hot cup of coffee.

Because it is cheap, it seems a good buy but the cleaning mechanism is tedious, the carafe holding the coffee is extremely delicate. I broke the carafe while i was cleaning it and now I am unable to find replacement as the measurements are not mentioned anywhere and the company is unable to respond even after following up for a month. Seems a Salter brand issue which has not been addressed as yet. I am now left with a coffee machine that I cannot use. Complete waste!
