Trac Ecological 1285-A FLUSHcap - 2.25" (Small)

I bought this to use when flushing my AC unit strainers. Previously I had to partially dismantle pump to connect fresh water hose, now I screw this into strainer, connect hose and run water for 10-15 minutes. When done with first use, strainers were cleanest they've been since installed. Water flow thru units is restored. Totally worth price.

The Trac Ecological 1285-A FLUSHcap is an essential tool for efficiently winterizing marine equipment. It fits perfectly on my Groco ARG-750-S 3/4" Raw Water Strainer. The setup is straightforward: close the freshwater valve, attach a hose and a bucket filled with marine antifreeze, and let the system circulate the antifreeze through. This method ensures that everything is thoroughly winterized. Once finished, simply swap the FLUSHcap with the original cap, and your equipment is ready for the cold season. This small tool makes a big difference in maintenance ease.

This product was great for flushing the saltwater raw water intakes, for the Engine, Generator, Air Conditioners, Heads etc., when the boat was hauled out for a long period of time. The only drawback was, that the threaded plastic fitting in the Strainer screw top, had a male hose thread - and the garden hose I used to flush the salt water out of the machinery, also had a male thread on it. ACE HARDWARE have a 3/4" female hose to 3/4" female hose swivel adapter (part # 71937) that joins the male end of the hose to the fitting in the screw down strainer top. ( see photo attached) Just figure on spending another $10. Otherwise, I'd have given this Flush Cap strainer top, 5 stars.

Ose this to flush my heat exchanger on my boat and works with no leaks.

Combined with a quick disconnect shut off valve, this item can save boaters significant money as your heat exchanger will sit idle with freshwater vs saltwater. A must have for me.

This device makes it so easy to flush my generator and air conditioner with fresh water. I like to leave fresh water in these units when I won't be using the boat for a while or especially when it will be out of the water for any length of time. I imagine this would make winterizing these units easy also. Luckily winterizing a boat is in history for me.

Works well, but as it comes it is not setup for a garden hose. It comes with a plastic male garden hose fitting, so you will at least have to buy a female to female coupler in order to be able to attach the male end of a garden hose. I ended up buying a stainless steel ball valve with 1/2” NPT threads on one end (this goes where the white plastic piece once was) to a garden hose fitting on the other end. Then I put a stainless steel quick connect garden hose fitting on that. Now I can move my flush hose from the quick connect for the motors, down into the bilge for the air conditioner flush

Fits well in my Graco strainer and has simplified winterizing my AC system.
