This is a great product and my husband and I are delighted with the results. I spoke to a retail outlet that handles this product before ordering it (they didn't have this colour in stock) and was told how easy it was to use. I was also warned that it could suffer damage over the long term because of excessive heat or standing water. We needed a quick fix for our kitchen to bring it into line with the rest of the house renovation and this provided a lovely clean finish to our 20+-year-old melamine and tiled countertops. We have enough left over to perform repairs if needed. I have attached a photo. As you can see, I muddied the colours a bit in the lower right side; I should have repainted a least a block of it in black and waited 24 hours. Nevertheless, we love the new counters and they are wearing well. Hope this helps.

The first picture is a before. Last year I layed feathering concrete over an ancient countertop that was made of (cracked) tiles that were uneven. After painting it and protecting with polyurethane it looked like the first pic, which was a massive improvement. But it didn't look very real and it yellowed and stained within the year. So I sanded it and used the Giani kit to get the new look. I should have probably made it lighter, but I felt it was looking pretty realistic when I added some veins with a small brush, so I left it at that. I'm really pleased with the result and am considering making it more durable by adding an epoxy layer when it is fully cured. It is also very forgiving, since I never managed to get the feathering concrete a hundred percent flat, having put it over a surface that was very uneven to begin with. Now it looks pretty flat. So full marks for this kit, I recommend it.

We did a "DIY" kitchen makeover and decided to try this kit for our counters and it was an AMAZING transformation! The supplies are good quality and instructions are very thorough and simple making it possible for any skill level to do! We found a tutorial on pinterest that used this kit to create a faux marble look instead of granite. While I changed the technique of painting, all the supplies I used came in this kit other than a couple small paint brushes I used for the "veining" of the marble. We had the standard creamy white laminate countertops which luckily were still in good condition. I can't speak to how easy or difficult it would be to work with a countertop that are badly chipped or damaged. My friend did a painted granite on her counter tops using acrylic craft paint and polycrylic top coat and honestly it doesn't hold a candle to mine. I attribute that to the quality of the paint and top coat in this kit. Mine has a thick glossy sheen on top that hers doesn't have and not only does that make it more durable, but it also makes it look more authentic. People who visit don't even realize it's a hand painted counter top until I tell them. However, because it's painted you DO have to be more careful in your day to day use. Using a cutting board is essential. I also never put a hot dish or pot directly on the counter. I always use a barrier, like an oven mitt, before placing it down. (A cup of coffee or heated plate in the microwave is fine. I'm talking about a casserole from the oven.) Lastly, the counter CAN stain from various foods. Red pasta sauce, fresh fruit juice, spilled pickle juice, etc. If you can wipe it up before it dries it usually comes right up but if it sits you might have a permanent spot. I have had my painted counters for 5 months now, in a very heavily used kitchen with 3 young kids who also use it. It's held up GREAT. No peeling, chipping...nada. thank you Giani for helping my kitchen look so much nicer!

I decide to use this kit over a slightly worn cream coloured formica/laminate kitchen countertop, over 20 years old. From the area coverage on the info, i ordered 2 kits because it would have been close using just one. I used spackling compound to fill any irregularities or seams and sanded it down in advance. The basecoat, a matte black........was just simply stunning. With our predominance of black and stainless steel appliances, it just look amazing. But the kit was for a mottled effect using a grey and 2 shades of white sponge painted over the black. So I went ahead and tried that on half the counter top. My husband and I both agreed, the solid black was way better!! So I used the black from the second kit to go back over the counter that had the sponge painting. I did everything by the instructions, and then I painted 2 coats of the acrylic topcoat on top of the black. It gave a nice shiny surface to the black and we like it. However upon reading the fine print, they do offer the option of using a 2 part epoxy top coat over this, after it has cured for 14 days. I already have a 2 part epoxy kit, so I'm going to do that next, for better durability. Overall, I say this is worth a try to avoid replacing your countertops, considering the price and ease of application. Some experience with sponge painting might help a bit. Do tape off everything around your countertop, esp. the areas under the lip that overlap lower cabinets or sides of the stove, fridge, etc. to prevent mishaps. The materials are waterbased, so clean up is easy. We had NO idea how awesome the black would look, so now I have alot of leftover paint but I'm sure I'll find a use for it somewhere. No regrets about the purchase and if you follow the instructions, you'll end up with something you'll be happy with. There is extra white in case you don't like the mottled look and want to go for a more white finish, like in the picture on the box.

I used this product on a very old mission brown laminated benchtop. And once i got the hang of it i found it easy enough to use. I am a little fussy so i did go back over a couple of sections with the third colour first to even it out and second to lighten the result. I did feel that there wasn't any difference between the second and third colour. They both appeared to be limestone white? All in all im very happy with the result.
