Bobby Fischer® Learn to Play Chess Set Board Game

I have an autistic 5year old son who absolutely LOVES to play chess and yes I did say 5 year old. He's pretty good already but he ALWAYS thinks there is room for improvement. This board teaches different moves each piece can move. The prices are big compared to what he had already, they have felt on the bottom witch allows them to move smoothly. It came with dice and some sort of flash cards still not sure the purpose of those. The flash cards looks like they are maybe to be colored (I'm quite sure that's not their intentions) maybe they have something to do with the dice lol I know absolutely nothing about chess myself that's a dad thing around here lol. It's great quality and has 2 extra queens with it. If you're just starting or are trying to improve your game this is perfect!!! I'm soooo happy we got this far him and it came right in the middle of being out of school for a snow week so it got here at just the right time.

Really enjoy this purchased for my 9 year old very easy for him to understand the board shows what pieces can move what directions.

For beginners this set is perfect. The actual design and feel of the pieces are great. I even like the smooth feel of the game board. The actual gameboard has a "cheatsheet" on both sides showing the allowable moves for each piece. The whole set is very good quality and the perfect entry into the world of chess. The instructions included are not too long, and super helpful as we are learning the mechanics of the gameplay. If you choose to purchase this set, it's recommended that you open it right away and check to ensure you have two complete sets (with 1 extra queen) for both sides. We were missing a white pawn, and reached out directly to the publisher of the set via the email printed on a slip of paper included in the box. I was extremely grateful and happy to receive the missing piece about a week later after verifying my order number and shipping address. Fantastic customer service, and a nicely designed set. What a rare combination in this day and age. Highly recommended!!!

Excellent for introducing young people to chess. The dice feature is very helpful for handicapping the more experienced player (usually the teacher) and giving the learning player a sense of having a chance and really playing the game. Only complaint is in the enclosed written documentation. This gives all the basics except any sense of the principles which beginners need to know, e.g. develop pieces before pawns, control the center, move each piece only once, castle as soon as possible. Without some sense of the larger strategies, beginning players generally just move pieces around with little in the way of planning, longer-term goals, etc. If these kinds of general principles were added to the product, I would rate it 5 stars.

This was a gift for my son. He said it was very informative and would recommend for anyone wanting to learn or further their chess game.

Great for learning and teaching how to play chess

I am learning how to play chess at 78 years old. This is a basic board and perfect for beginners. If I stick with it, I will buy a special chess set! If not, I will give my grandkids the beginners one either way.

If you want to learn how to play chess this is the board for you! I had no idea how to play, and my 4kids & husband all learned. I started playing with this board and was able to pick it up so quickly. Each side shows you the piece and the directions each piece can travel. Made it super easy to learn!
