Great if you have an algae problem.
I have white drinking water safe drinking hoses attached to my RV. Unfortunately, since they are water safe, they tend to allow algae growth inside. Not a big deal, until it gets to the point where it's clogging up the filter. Which in a Florida summer can happen very quickly. Black hoses don't allow the algae growth, but then the water coming out of the hose is a thousand degrees, so everything is a trade-off. This filter allows me to easily clean out the algae frequently, and keeps it from getting into the main water filter, which is a little more expensive to replace.

Great For Gritty Black Sand In My Well Water
Use to have constantly sticking (on) sprinkler/irrigation valves due to sand/grit/black iron sand (in far northwest Arizona desert, 380 foot deep well) UNTIL I installed these gems. Quick and easy to twist loose the screen section after shutting off hose bib valve and rinsing off the screen in pail of water with finger nail. Use a little silicone grease on both o-rings to keep them fresh for a long time. A must for use with any 24 volt water valve or battery operated timer valve with gritty well water.

Good, but may require modifications to fit
Only been using for one week, but so far so good. Using outdoors before a hose timer. Much easier and faster to clean this screen than the cone shaped filter-washer inside the hose connection. Minimal effect on total gpm flow. As another user noted, the protrusion beyond the male threads makes it difficult or impossible to connect to some threads as some female connections are deeper than others. This was the case on my rainpoint hose timer. It was not difficult to dremel and sand the protrusion off, but I’m still stumped why it is present in the first place. In the attached image, you can see the modified filter on the left, and an unmodified one on the right with the protrusion beyond the male threads. You can also see the difference in female thread depths on the different hose timers. (No, there are not two washer seals on the green timer, the white you see below the red washer is plastic, and does not create a seal if the red is removed)

Awesome with well water.
We live on a farm and have awful well water. This helped my washing machine filters from clogging up so often.

A FILTER for my garden irrigation?! Yes please!!
FINALLY!! My garden irrigation kept getting clogged right before the timer splitter. This makes it so easy to clean those clogs!!! Saving my costly timer and saving me tons of time!!! Woohoo!!

Easy install. Remember to turn water back on when finished
Had a repairman out to check on our washer. Long story short grit from our well clogged the filter in the cold water inlet. Bought this because the first review I read about this product was the very same thing that happened to me. After the install we tried out the "new" machine and it did the sam,e thing itwas doing the first time. Well wife notcied I did not turn cold water back on. Turnes it back on and machine ran like a champ.

Not very durable
The housing cracked and started leaking after one month of use.

This works fine for my needs
This prevents clogs in our garden sprinkler by catching sand, sediment, etc that comes from our well. I do have to use pliers to remove the very tight filter when I need to clean it out.
