The 6 D-cell daylight is a less than dainty 19 1/2 , ( yes, nineteen and one half) inches long. The 2 1/2 head and 1 1/4 diameter is about right and pretty standard for d cells. It is also quite heavy and makes for a sturdy club. Completely sealed against the weather. Should last a lifetime. Those other answers may be for the 3 cell.

Why does Maglite so adamantly refuse to honor its warranty? The design of this flashlight encourages batteries to leak and wreck the flashlight.

Mag-Lite has a Trade-In program that you can trade in a damaged or older light for a new one at a discount. I had a 12+ year old incandescent Mag-Lite that I left in my shed for the past year and a half which the excessive heat in the shed during the summer (100+F) caused the batteries inside of it to not only leak, but ATE a football shaped hole right through the barrel. The light still worked, but I could not remove the tailcap. Fortunately I live where Mag-Lite is located, and drove down to trade in my 2 D-cell light for a brand new LED version for less than $25! Can't beat that, and I didn't even have to ship mine to them. While that's not like a warranty, it's far better than if they were to tell you to kick rocks. Trade-In was super easy, no questions asked.

Can I get a wrist strap for this ?

i haven't hear of a wrist strap. you could make one using maglite holders, "flashlight torch stretch holster pouch with rotating clip" etc, with a strap to go around your wraist. it would be home made.You can add a MAGLITE Rothco Police C D Cell Maglite Flashlight Side Handle Baton and a Glass breaking tail cap.this make a self defence weapon you can download the maglite catalog at http://www.maglite.com/spareparts.asp i hope this helps you

what is the difference between in display box and blister pack?

Good question. Did you google it. I’m thinking maybe cardboard box with pic of it, and maglite inside? I just got the blister pack. It gives blisters opening, right? Once I broke an item opening the pack. A useless mode of packaging. I think meant for store displays, harder to open to steal. Let the stores worry about theft deterrences. Sorry for added non relevant detail.
