Audio-Technica PRO 8HEx Hypercardioid Dynamic Headworn Microphone, XLR Connector

For general use, this is a nice microphone, It fits well, without being overly snug (some headworns can be painfully tight!) and the XLR cable is a few feet long, so its easy to route it where I need it. My primary use for this mic is with a transmitter, along with a Bose S1Pro+ speaker. The transmitter connect directly to the to the XLR out, with a solid and secure connection. Sound is excellent, with a balanced frequency response, and no static or other electrical noise. My one issue with the mic is that there is a lot of handling noise. Any movement of the cable while using it produces sound- and although I can reduce it using a noise gate in my effects loop, I’d rather have a slightly quieter mic. Otherwise it works as it should. Its compact and light and can easily fit in my gigbag. Positionng is pretty flexible - from close in for quiet work to a few inches away when I need to belt a song.

Excellent microphone headset. Had to replace two different Shure headsets that developed wiring shorts after intermittent use as a public address announcer. The new Audio-Technica PRO 8Hex seems to be considerably better build with heavier gauge wiring and it is remarkably more "live" and really cuts through. I have a big noggin, so it fits a little tight but will break in over time. Used in conjunction with a cutoff switch, it is perfect for our needs.

I wanted a wired headset mic and this is about the only one I could find. And the price is reasonable. I had to send the first one back due to a problem but the company/seller was very responsive and took care of it right way. The new one has worked perfectly ever since, a few months now. It allows me to play the keyboard and sing without having to have a mic in front of my face. I love it. The quality of the sound is good. I use a mixer to beef up the tones a little and voila, I have a headset mic that sounds great in any situation. For me, sitting next to the mixer board during performance, it's easy to plug it straight into the board because the chord that comes with it is well long enough, around 10'. Speaking of the wire, I do wish it were thicker, more industrial strength so that it will last for many years. I feel that it has to be handled delicately and carefully and I'll be worried about this coming apart or developing a problem at some point. For now, it's great!

We purchased this headset for my husband, who is a professional percussionist and singer. He plays all over the region where we live and has been developing his singing more in the past few months. He is very happy with this unit - he can hear himself sing in addition to hearing the music created by himself and the bands he plays with, and this headset goes everywhere with him on performance days!

It was barely used because it sounded awful! It was to be used by a professional musician. We recently had a professional sound man check the mic and he feels that it is a defective unit because it doesn't work as it is supposed to in regards to the signal. Unfortunately we found this out over a year after purchasing it and we did not purchase the warranty. It was NEVER used during a performance and only tried out in practice and during sound check. I would like to exchange it if possible.

I've been using this mic for about a year now. The sound quality is good when paired with a good audio system. The build quality isn't so great. The neck will twist and fall away from the mic constantly. I've remedied this problem by wrapping tape around the neck to keep it in place. A good fix, although such a problem shouldn't exist. i know several people that recommended this microphone and they all have the same problem with the neck. I'd look elsewhere. Edit: 4/8/2014 So I've used the same mic for five years now. Forget what I said about the neck thing. It's irrelevant. I'm a professional tour guide and this thing has been stepped on, tripped over, rained on, bent CONSTANTLY, and used 5 days out of the week for 5 years and the original unit is STILL GOING GREAT. It's a steal. I'd get it. Forget what I said in the original post: I was young and naive. This is a fantastic piece of equipment that won't ever quit on you.

I’ve had one of these units for a decade, and it’s served me well, faithfully and without fault. I love that it’s dynamic and cardioid—makes it less fragile and more tonally consistent, and sound quality is very usable for live performance. But I figured it was time to replace, as mine had lost all its foam and probably was losing some fidelity from age and use. I bought this replacement, but the quality is NOT the same as the prior one. It sounded tinny and had lower output. An A-B test against the first mic (during a stage sound check, unfortunately) confirmed it was defective, so I sent it back for a refund. I give three stars because it’s a great mic—when it’s fully functional. But if this is any indication of the QC process, I’d be wary before buying in a situation where it’s time sensitive.

Le son est merveilleux! Super pratique pour chanter les mains libres. Facile d'ajouter un adaptateur pour éviter les fils qui traînent par terre, donc liberté totale! Génial!

Premetto che la marca è un sinonimo di buoni prodtti per quanto riguarda sia la parte microfonica che le cuffie, quindi nell'acquisto si va abbastanza sul sicuro. Posseggo già un ottimo AT 2035 cardiodide per studio recording e quindi cercando un micorofono wired per poter avere le mani libere suonando chitarra o tastiera e registrando in presa diretta la scelta è ricaduta su questo prodotto che, pur non essendo un fulmine di guerra per la registrazione voce, è un ottimo compromesso tra live e studio recording. Ma le 3 stelle sono per un elemento che giudico assai preoccupante, ovvero la sezione del cavo del jack che è molto, ma molto, sottile e la preoccupazione consequenziale che, visto che è costruito in modo da non poterlo sostituire, se si rompe addio microfono con conseguente perdita secca dei 100 euro circa del costo. Da una casa così seria mi sarei aspettato che la sezione di cavo dal mic al jack fosse staccabile e quindi facilmente sostituibile.
