Herb Pharm - Valerian Extract 4 Fl. Oz. 64256

Very useful for relaxation, calming frayed nerves, and gently inducing sleep - I've tried various different brands of dried Valerian capsules/tablets in the past and never felt much of an effect from any of them, but this tincture is most definitely "active." Really nice to have this on hand as a relaxation aid/stress reliever and sleep aid. The capsules also had that characteristic funky odor, and I have to say that while this product definitely has a strong and unmistakable taste and smell to it, the flavor sort of borders on sweet... funky sweet, I guess. But I find it a lot more palatable than the scent that hits you when you open up a jar of valerian capsules. I've always found HerbPharm's products in general to be of high quality, and this one is no exception. Will definitely be ordering again as I am just about out of my current bottle. I'm not a doctor but one thing I'd mention as well as just a little tip from user to user - start out with a small dose and see how it affects you, then gradually increase until you get to know this substance and how it will affect your body. For just general "cup of tea" level relaxation enhancing effects, I take a very small dose; when I'm stressed out or upset about something and want a gentle herbal product to kind of take the edge off, I basically double that small dose; if I'm trying to get to sleep and having a hard time doing so, I take 3x the small dose, maybe 4-5x at times, but really never higher than that or else I feel groggy and foggy upon waking up and it persists for first half of my day. I love this tincture which uses an Alcohol tincture and no glycerin. I can not stand tinctures with glycerin and I will only buy alcohol only tinctures. Please bring us more tinctures with alcohol only Herb Pharm.

Having problems trying to relax! This is the product for you! Has become part of a nightly routine, mix in a few drops with my sleepy time tea and I’m out like a light in 30mins or less

This is a really special kind of Valerian. The taste and smell may be odd to people not used to herbal remedies, I would best describe it as Spikenard. I was very impressed by it and wish I had bought an extra one, since I'm overseas and had to reship it. I have read elsewhere in the reviews that some are saying there is a difference between the 1oz & 4oz versions. I haven't tried the 1oz, but I highly doubt this is true. The 4oz version I have is a darkish gold or brown with a very noticeable and pleasant (in my view) herbal taste.
