3M Scotch 35 electrical tape is my preferred tape for many years that is offered in a 1/2" size. For my purposes, it has never come undone and has been reliable.

Great quality tape, although we don't use it for electrical work. My daughter does color guard and they use electrical tape for the poles on their flags. The adhesion is great and you get a lot of product for the cost. Scotch is the only brand that her coach will use for their shows because it lasts.
