It does a good job of sharpening kitchen knives.

This sharpener is good enough to bring back a knife’s edge as long as it wasn’t allowed to get too dull. It also has a sharpener for scissors that can be pulled out from the base (see my photo). The disadvantage is that the ceramic rods cannot be removed for cleaning, otherwise, it’s a handy sharpener to touch up knives before use.
