If the coiled leash is not completely enclosed / protected  isnt more likely to get ruined should it get pulled out of  hand and dragged on the groun?

Our leash gets pulled out of hand and dragged on the ground daily.  I've also dropped it in the river and THEN accidently dropped it, leash extended, wet, in the sand.  Rather than ruin it, I was able to clean it out and dry it BECAUSE it is open.  I extended it and cleaned the leash in the river.  When I got home I extended the leash and dried it outdoors and then simply shook all the sand and dirt out of the housing.  ANY other enclosed retractable would have been ruined.

Is there a retractable leash that has a cord or cable that dogs can't chew into?

Amazon sells 2-4 foot plastic covered steel leaders with swivel clip ends that you simply place between the end of your leash and your dog's collar. Depending upon how far back your dog reaches to chew on the leash should give you an idea of how long a steel leader you need. I put a 6ft steel leader on my flexi retractable so I can retract the ribbon completely when preparing  the dog to be taken out side ( this is when most of the destructive chewing happen ). Plus this helps when in public areas where other dogs are that can bite thru your dog's ribbon.

The image shows 2 different color schemes. Which will be sent, the one with the silver circle or the one with e black circle with the dog image?

Question 4

I have a 26ft  flexi3  leash that is 12 yrs old and it is a nylon type cord with about 16in of ribbon at the latch. Is this the same?

Yes more or less it is the same.  The nylon rope, even though I still sometimes use my about 20 year old Flexi, is actually semi dangerous.  I have gotten a friction burn over the years, maybe 5 times, but you don't need a college degree to use a Flexi.  I now have a newer model that is safer and easier to use at the same time.  The main reason I bought a new Flexi was the rope had just about broken and needed to be retied and with the second knot I had lost over 18  inches of leash.  I can still use my old Flexi now as I said but buy a real genuine Flexi made in Germany.   I don't know what makes these German built so great but you can't kill them.  They last and last.  Don't buy some knock off to save a few dollars.  Buy the real deal.  I also like the yellow tape as it is a day glow yellow seen from blocks away.
