Well organized and detailed with easy to follow descriptions of the core sampling procedures, equations and how the data are used. As another reviewer mentioned, it is not easy to come by detailed core analysis explanations and how the labs do it and QA info, as a lot of this info is mostly shared by word of mouth on a limited basis. In my opinion, this is a must have reference for any petroleum engineer or geologist needing detailed info on core analysis data and how to use it.

Excellent book largely based on the courses Colin was running for many years. Probably a bit lighter on reservoir engineering applications of SCAL measurements but overall good and comprehensive source of core related activities.

I like the book and the fact that it contains the experience of the authors in the quality of different tests and what should be and should not be done. I particularly like the comparison tables for different methods and their advantages and disadvantages. Many of these things are hardly found in any other written work and typically go from mouth to mouth (yeah, 21st century and many labs still work like this!). It may be pricey, but if you work or plan to work in core laboratories, this is going to be a good resource, plus save you time in having to repeat experiments because of bad practices.
