Provale Regulating Drinking Cup - Single - 5cc

I ordered two of these Provale regulating drinking cups for my mother as she aspirates with liquids. Due to her dementia she doesn't remember to drink only while sitting up straight. That's where these cups come in handy. She has to tilt the cup up fairly high to get the 5 cc's of liquid; she no longer coughs after drinking when using one of these cups! I was able to decorate them so that they did not look too institutional and that makes them easily identified as her property. I found out about these cups from the HHC ST and when I discussed this with other ST's - they were unaware of these nifty cups. Yes, they are pricey but they deliver safe liquids to your loved one!

Loved the 2 handle design and size. However, liquid will not flow down the mouth piece unless you are almost flat on your back which is not advisable. Several family members attempted to drink/sip from this cup without success. Total waste of a lot of money for my 93 yr old mother.

Good cup, just difficult to open. If you still have liquid inside the cup and try to open it, it can spill the liquid all over you

I have to Komodo the liquid intact due to swallowing problems for my husband. This has really helped me. I no longer have to tell him to take small sips. The cup does it for both of us.

It is made of hard plastic. My special needs daughter had a hard time drinking from it. Her teeth would clunk against the outside. It is hard o open. It just sits in our cupboard now. Very overpriced.

I love the functionality of this cup. I use it with patients with dysphagia who may not be able to tolerate thin liquids in larger volumes or from open cup sips. I just wish these were a bit more affordable ... the cost is a bit outrageous on every website I find them available.

Recommended by speech therapist for my dad to limit liquid per swallow. It works.
