I purchased the kit for my granddaughter who is very artistic and enjoys doing various crafts.

This was my first time trying kumihimo. The kit comes with a large disk, a cute storage bag, instructions, and everything you need for your first project (my completed braid is in the photo, but I have not decided how I want to use it, yet). At first I was not sure if I was doing it correctly because it was simple enough that I thought, surely, I am not doing this the right way. However, I could see after a few minutes the formation of the braid. I am really glad that I started with this kit! You will have enough chord to make a short necklace, a double wrapped bracelet, or two single bracelets (although you will need a second set of end caps and clips). I would definitely buy this again and recommend for the first-time crafter. As soon as I finished this one, I splurged on the same kit with seed beads.

This kit includes everything you need to complete one project. It is hard to see in the picture but the handled and zippered pouch is invaluable to keep all the pieces together, and some of them are small. I stumbled with the instructions and had to get help from another source. The text was too small and difficult to for me to read on colored background-maybe not a problem for most. I am hooked! My suggestion is to purchase extra discs if you have requests of braids of differing colors or style that are need at the same time. I've learned the hard way. The extra discs make it much less stressful as I can alternate time on each project and have them finished at the same time. I don't feel the stress of finishing up the second one. Phew! I also learned that Tibetan Monks historically have used this silk cord weaving for use in their ceremony's. Now all my Tibetan Buddist friends are requesting cords. Fun!

What can I say this is a great tool for making braided cords. The description is exact. If you have not used it I would say go one step further and watch it on YouTube, I tell you I was like a child on Saturday morning getting a good fix on cartoons non-stop. I purchased this one and the square one and then a 3rd that was a kit that had the thread holders in it so basically this review is the same for all three as each of the Kumihimo (round and square) perform the braiding technique however the square one takes it just a few steps more when braiding. Again, best thing to do is watch them in action and THAT will make your decision for you. I am hooked and loving it while for me it shuts out the world and puts me in a "zen-like" state while creating.

I'm was so excited about receiving this as a gift. The biggest difference between the picture on the on the box and the inside is the cord. I did not receive much s-lon cord and they are two different sizes. The cords were stuffed inside the box all tangled. The bobbins were not in a bag but loose in the box. The bag that held the Kumihimo disc and instructions was opened. I am keeping the kit as the most important item, the disc, seems unused. I already purchased more s-lon cord, am looking for nicer findings and I plan to try it out soon. The cloth bag was nice but probably not needed.

I wanted to find out if kumihimo was something I could do and get excited about after watching some videos on Youtube. Buying this kit with all that I needed was my solution. The kit had everything you need for starters and if you watch their videos on Youtube you will get a better idea of how this works. My first attempt has now gotten me excited to continue to invest more money. So, if you are just curious or want to try and do not want to invest alot of money in a new craft this is the kit to purchase.

I was introduced to Kumihimo beading through my neighborhood craft group this summer. I worked on a borrowed loom to do my first project. I really enjoyed the bracelet that the weaving produced. So then I decided to get my own loom. I ordered the kit, which included the loom as well as the necessary bobbins and other beading items. It is an excellent kit which includes initial set up instructions which are very well written and clear. if you are looking for supplies to begin this craft, I would definitely recommend this kit. It is complete and gets you going!

The box definitely looked like it had been opened previously and was missing the accessories that were supposed to be included. That was the whole reason I picked this kit over other options.
